Anyone got an ideas online? Needed to test a dodgy mobo and processor, so it may not be used too much, hence the 'cheap' aspect :)
Cheers,
Vince

Assuming I get the one from Dan in the near future I'll probably have a spare cheapo one late this week or early next.
If interested reply here.

Possibly... It's for a mate, and he seems to want one pretty soon (like he's gonna go out and buy one at the w/e if he's not got one sorted by then!) Mind you, I could do with one myself so definitely LMK when it's available and we can take it from there :)

Just - I checked recently, but things seem to have got better - a 400W PSU for £22.18+VAT could be just the ticket :D Thanks!

Any personal experience of that PSU Bapapapa, or just going on Ebuyer's reputation? :) It'll be powering an XP1600+

To be honest mate, I haven't even looked. 23 quid for a 400w PSU, just doesn't strike me as quality. :D
Go over to AMD's webby and see if it's 'Approved', before parting with folding.
What probs are you having with your 1600+?

I'm with you all the way there mate, but it ain't for me, rather a cheapskate friend :)

It ain't even AMP Approved on Ebuyer - 'AMD Recommended' is the phrase they use!

Not mine, but the base unit was couriered from Malaysia, and UPS managed to drop the box it was in. No obvious damage except to the case, but the base unit was DoA. The PSU doesn't currently work, and all the other base units round here are PIIIs, with 230-250W PSUs, hence not much good for testing. :( He's glad he brought his TFT monitor with him personally!

No reason why you can't use a 250w PSU if all your gonna do is fire it up to see if it works.
Oh and 'AMD approved' is the correct term - but it is ebuyer. :p

Tried a 230W PSU - the fans spin, but there's no video output (the graphics card is fine) and no noises from the mobo. I'm guessing it's a mobo problem, but I don't have another mobo to test the XP1600+, and I'm not willing to stick another socket A processor in the mobo in case it fries it :( Another PSU is definitely required anyway, and I've recommended another mobo to test the processor first...
