If anyone has watched the SE version of Die Hard 2, can they tell me if the picture quality is better than in the original R2 release?

The original release of the first Die Hard film had a pretty decent transfer, but DH2 was pretty awful IMHO (green tints, soft focus etc.). I don't want to get the new boxset if the same image transfer has been used - even if it does have dts audio!

The R1 is pretty damn good, and I can't see why you'd want the R2 when the R1 Ultimate Collection can be had for little over 30 quid from HMV Canada (with a coupon) unless you really hate NTSC. Having said that, The R2 Project (http://www.r2-dvd.org/article.jsp?sectionId=4&articleId=3432) like the R2 video, but not unreservedly.

Plus, dont you only get DH 1 & 2 with the R2 boxset?
I would go R1, its a great set and its not that much more (plus you get the trilogy!!).

Thanks for the R1 recommendations guys, but I didn't like DH:WAV that much. Although the R2 boxset is way overpriced, I'd still like to know whether - imagewise - it's worth getting rid of my old copies and upgrading....

yes Robo4 the picture is much better than the old one.

i've got the limited edition boxset (R2) and it is absolutely brilliant.

Whilst everyone is harking on about 'Get region 1!, get region! etc etc' i can tell you that the actual region 2 disks themselves are excellent, brilliant menus, dts sound etc.

I only paid £26.99 for mine and i am VERY happy with it (if you're not a student you have to pay £29.99 for it - from WHSmith)

So if the price doesn't bother you and you fancy the boxset i'd say go for it!

Also just as a sidenote - the audio tracks are also absolutely superb and worth the upgrade

Thanks mr_woo (you're not a George Formby fan perchance?).

Looks as if I'll be popping by HMV after work. Robo boxset plus Die Hard boxset for £64 total, and I can use a £10 voucher...

In an earlier thread in the bargain forum, it points out that the double pack is less than £20 at Asda (along with Robocop for £25ish, I think).

Sorry, just been and the DH boxset was £35ish in my local Asda. Just the DH 2-discer was £19.97.
