View Full Version : Upgrade due this month, anything better then my LG Viewty out now or soon.
My upgrade is due this month and I can get pretty much any phone free. At present I use an LG Viewty, is there anything out or coming soon that is better then this.
I'd like to be able to browse the web and check emails in a normal way if possible and don't want something with stupid battery life.
So am I best just keeping my Viewty or is there something better out now or due out soon.
Just been offered a storm for free on my contract with free text and internet and emailing, this any good.

It's well known to be full of Software bugs at the moment but RIM are looking to upgrade the firmware soon.
Can't decide, why tell me is a blackberry better at email and browing web then an LG Viewty?
Read any contract carefully - would you have to pay an additional Blackberry sub for that? We do on our work ones.

I went for this in the end, battery life for storm put me off and think i just wanted one cos its a "Blackberry". So I went for the Experia X1.

I've been looking at some of the above suggestions but I discounted the X1 after reading this review: http://www.3g.co.uk/PR/Nov2008/Sony_Ericsson_Xperia_X1_Review.htm
Stunno's suggestion (HTC Diamond) looks interesting though.
So back to square one.
Hi,
Did you get an upgrade in the end?
I'm looking at the LG Renoir KC910. Not as big as the iPhone, and has an 8mp camera. That or the SE C905. Currently own a Nokia N95, but open to recommendations.
cheers
Gone back to my LG Viewty, tried a blackberry storm and hated that too.
The Viewty ok is it? I ordered one ( £99 @ Littlewoods Direct (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=321) ) and have since read lots of negative user reviews about it. I have an ipod touch, which I take everywhere, so didnt need the wifi or motion sensor stuff. Was tempted by the cookie but thought for the same price the Viewty would be better... I'm a bit nervous about the touch screen being clunky after using the ipod, and also the fact that some seem to think the camera overrated. This still the best camera phone for £100?

sorry to hijack, any more recommendations?
is the experia quite big?
i would like an iphone but the main thing is i would lose o2 to o2 calls (make about 4 hours worth a month) and texts down to 500 from 1000 for the same price - i would have to add 2 add ons which would put my billl up to 50 quid from 35. i would gain by having the unlimited web and wifi.
my needs are a latest handset, not too big, lots of applications and the ability to add some - i like gps, music player, high spec camera (was willing to sacrifice this with the iphone) and good internet browsing. with anything apart from iphone i would hope to get a reduction in price to offset having to add unlimited data.
any thoughts? like the look of that touch diamond but i cant see it on the o2 website (though i have seen mention of someone saying they got one from them).
thanks
-- also wondering what the n96 is like? the 16g is appealing.

just been on to 02 and as expected there is no flexibility on the iphone pricing.
basically any other handset would be free for me and i would get
1200 minutes
1000 texts for £45 but 40% off the price so £27
unlimited data add on free.
i mentioned the touch diamond and she said the xda ignitio is exactly the same, just rebranded???
--------- the x1 looks well nice in the vids and the dimensions imply its just a fraction bigger than my k850i

i realised after going into cpw today that the phone i was on about is the HTC touch HD - perfect size phone and screen i thought at first glance.
