I've found a set that has some intriguing specs - including progressive scan, a vga input, twin tuners, 100 Hz all for a lowish price (1200)
http://www.finlux.co.uk/finlux/tv/
I've been in contact with the Finlux UK people who've given me some more info - but they can't seem to decide how the progressive scan is done and have now gone silent on me.
Has anyone seen one of these sets, or know where I could actually see one.
I realize they might be rubbish, but i'm intrigued as the spec seems to be top of the line.

I've just spotted the Finlux 72GF50 model at a bargainous £313. Does anyone have experience of this brand, as I have not really got any experience of them?
Also, does anyone know of anywhere in the Glasgow area that stocks them?
Thanks
Daz
Apollo 2000 stock the Finlux TVs in the UK.
They have shops - but none near me.
www.apollo2000.co.uk is the website
They have a 32" flat screen 100Hz TV with VGA input and progressive scan (82X210MC model) for £642 inc vat . Its currently showing as out of stock though.
Several forum members went for the slightly cheaper 32" 100hz model without VGA input (but with progressive scan ,flat screen etc). This is currently £581.99 and in stock with free delivery.

Yeah, this tv was in the bargain forum a couple of months back. Among its list of features, it is apparently fire resistant!
Probably a reasonable telly for the money. I believe that Finlux supply hotels with tv's, so it will prove to be durable, no doubt.

I'm caught between the Finlux and LG 28" widescreens at the moment. Just wish I could see one of the Finlux models before buying.

Phil,
cannot comment on seeing one of these, but I`m sure that older finlux Tv sets used off the shelf basic Philips tubes, Although a lot will depend on the actual quality of the electronics to drive this;)
Still, doesn`t sound bad on paper spec wise....

Indeed! Apparently, there has (in the recent past) been many reported problems with TV's catching fire here in Finland... which I find rather worrying (since I've not heard of similar problems in the UK before I left). I noticed a Finnish poster on my local bus stop listing this as one of the many plus points of the new Finlux range ('fire' was about the only word I recognised it being in Finnish and all... but it doesn't take much to put 2and2 together :)
I had an old Finlux TV when I was in the UK inherited from a great uncle who I believe bought it in the early to mid 80's. Worked like a charm (the picture was still good).
Can't offer any more advice or musings beyond that though! Good luck making your decision(s).
