View Full Version : Anyone know where you can buy cheap Maglites?

Ho hum, another car-jacking on the news today, so I'm in the unfortunate position of feeling the need to buy something to put in the car in case of something similar happening.

Unfortunately, carrying around my crossbow is somewhat illegal, and I've heard the police take a dim view on people waving replica guns in potential theives' faces too, so I'm after a hefty Maglite.

So, where can I get a (relatively) cheap 4-battery Maglite from?

Cheers.

Aye, Costco.

Realise this information is useless to you unless you have, or know someone with, a membership. :p

I have just this torch next to my bed just in case some unsavoury character decides to enter my flat without permission.

You can get a 1.5kg 6 D Cell for 30 quid from here (http://www.inml.co.uk/maglite/maglitedcell.asp). Should be able to do some damage with that, assuming you can lift it of course. :p

I'd be surprised if anyone could actually open your car door to "jack" your car mate, what with you careering around the road and leaving it in ditches and stuff. You don't stop for long enough do you?

Even if you did, surely the doors are so jammed from all the dents you don't need to worry?

:p

How is a torch going to stop them? Is it an evil torch?

Too right, they are quite weighty - Carl, you could lob them out the window as you speed by at 90 mph.

Although this LED torch (http://www.gadgetshop.com/eshop/product.asp?pf_id=16871&Masterdept_id=8&dept_id=5552&SITE=1&VID=&S_ID=DA305DA43FBF4895AB535F36AB46E80E&REFID=0&SESSID=&BRAND=1&S_TYPE=U&AV=F&QB=F&CAMID=0&BV=0) won't double up as a heavy weapon for clobbering car-jackers, anyone care to comment on what it's performance as a torch is like?

To re-ressurect a thread...

Anyone know what the difference is between a 4 D-cell and a 6 D-cell mag lite is? Is it just weight, battery life, and penis size, or is there a brightness difference? I'm thinking of going for a 4D LED but not sure if a 6D (normal, non LED) might be better if it is as bright as the 4D LED?

There seemed to be more thread humour about in 2002.

Sigh.

Nostalgia isn't what it was.
