My brother just gave me his old blackbery 8310 and im just curious how to set it up. Its a vodaphone phone and im currently on vodaphone too so ive popped my sim in and it works, makes calls fine etc.

Now im not bothred about setting up the email on it but i would like to use the GPS and maps. Im not on a contract at the moment, just pay as you go. What do i need to do to enable the web/maps on the phone?

Also can anyone suggest some other fun apps that i might want to install on it.

There should be an application called 'Blackberry Maps' on the phone. However I think this relies upon downloading the maps through a GPRS connection rather than being pre-installed thus you would get charged for Data downloading.

The actually connection of the GPS shouldn't cost anything though.

no you wont get a data charge for downloading the maps as you need the blackberry solution activated on the account to use the GPRS connection and this is only available on the Pay monthly side, without that the phone will work but you can't do any mms or even web browsing......
