Urotsukidoji - Any Good?!?

Seriously considering getting the entire collection of this uncut from america...demon/tentacle rape aside (yuck)...is this really as violent and gory as they say it is and does it have a decent storyline?!?

Yup - It's a nasty piece of work indeed. Bear in mind that most of the violence is sexualised violence hence the large numbers of cuts made by the BBFC. The final series also features kids being molested, I understand, leading to the whole series being banned over here. The story is OK - It's certainly different but to be honest, if you're looking for a good storyline, look elsewhere. Also, by the time you get to the third series things seem to take a very "Masters Of The Universe" tone, and the character design is poor to say the least. Personally, if you want something like this I'd go for the much supirior Wicked City, Monster City or Ninja Scroll.

I've seen both Monster/Wicked City and thoroughly enjoyed them...i've decided it's about time to boost my anime collection which stands at a pitiful 2 DVD's right now (Akira/Blood: Last Vampire)

I just heard a lot about Urotsukidoji and was wondering whether it was worth buying

If you want the horrific gore/sexual violence side of anime (which really isn't that popular in Japan) then Urotsokidoji sets the standard. Best to check before you buy the US release - I don't think it has subtitles for the Japanese track. If you don't mind cheesy dubs of anime then you'll be fine.

I'd recommend Perfect Blue as an alternative here, but its more of a psychological horror film.

If you want to see more anime of all genres there is a thread going on elsewhere about the best films to see.

When this movie was mentioned before...I went on to talk about the the topic of hentai because i've been seeing a lot of that stuff on various sites since I started in my little business. Yeah...I find it very sick and disgusting and I wasn't aware that urotsukidoji contained so much of it, i've seen one part before on C4 and didn't see too much disturbing stuff...but I can only surmise that it was cut to hell like everything else in this country.

When it comes to anime...I watch it firsly for the story, secondly for the animation and my final consideration is the gore/violence...but i'd prefer to avoid anything heavily on the hentai side.

Firstly: I didn't know this film was famous for tentacle rape...I don't know too much about anime, but the 3 names that are most popular to me are akira, ghost in the shell & urotsukidoji...I have the first 2, that's why i asked about the third.

Secondly: I wasn't complaining that it was all sick last time...once again, you're replying to my post without actually remembering what was posted. Last time this topic was mentioned I just said I was surprised that they can get away with such extreme stuff in Japan but they have to censor erect penis's, cumshots, etc in mainstream porn.

As a Hentai (Adult Manga) fanatic it is at the extreme side of Adult Anime.. I personally think the first one is good but after that it gets bad (the 4th one is outright banned in the UK) Although DC-DVD can get the Complete Boxset (1-4) Expensive though..

Jesus...I know that it had an element of hentai in it, but I didn't know it was a dominant theme...thats why I wanted to know if it was a decent story!
