View Full Version : Die Hard such a surprise?

Forgive me if I just haven't been paying attention, but...
... howcome the Die Hard re-releases have been kept so quiet? Everyone has been discussing the other February releases... websites reviewed many of February's films before Christmas... places like the R2 Project usually have lots of features on upcoming discs...
But apart from major TV advertising, this release is a total surprise to me! Only a couple of websites have reviews of this release, tucked away in the corner. Play247 doesn't even list it on any pages, and it isn't in the "best sellers" or "new releases" list (I could only find it by doing a title search). The same for many other retail sites. I also notice that hardly anybody has ever mentioned the Die Hard re-releases on these forums, which is really odd considering they are feature-packed popular movies.
Why has this release been kept so quiet?
Or is it just my fault for not noticing?
Oh... and... are the new discs any good?

Because the R1 has been out for so long. Btw haven't you seens the ads on tv teh last few days - they just keep repeating them!
maybe the sheen has been taken off after seeing what a coward Willis is in real life, too scared to take a trip to europe after sep 11th ?
I was also caught by suprise by the Die hard R2 quiet release. The only way I know about it was seeing the TV ads. Ah well, off to the shops :D

And Dennis Bergkamp doesn't like flying but that doesn't make him any less of a great footballer - And Im a Spurs fan btw !!
Anyhoo.... My all time favourite action flick is now out on DVD ! Yippee-Ki-Yay !
yeah, i know it shouldn't make a difference but it does change my perception of the character when i see him playing these brazenly macho roles. i suppose it's no different to stallone playing rambo when he spent the vietnam war in a swiss convent for girls in order to dodge the draft.

Me, In a Swiss convent for girls? With my reputation?
BINGO
Why is there only 2 in the box set, why is Die Hard with a Vengance not in it?
I've got the origional releases are these a lot better. Also is the region 1 or region 2 better?

Different international distributer for Die Hard: With A Vengance, therefore no triple pack of movies !!!
Yes, they are far better than the original releases and yes, region 1 is the one to go for, as you can get them all in one set and Die Hard 3 is uncut (unlike in the UK)
i got the boxset today with DH 1 & 2 in it and i must say they are very nice disks.
Whilst i know i should have got the region 1 boxset walking past and seeing them in the shop just brought out the impulse buyer in me, just couldn't resist it :D
I did get the boxset for £26.99 from WHSmith though so i was well happy (£29.99 plus 10% student discount   )
Going to go order the third one from play.com now (the region 1 special edition that is)
Total Price = £42.98
It may be slightly more dearer than buying region 1 boxset on net and i dont get the box either but im well happy with the price as the disks are identical to region 1.
Just about to but it from dvdboxoffice for £39 region1. Just to double check that region1 and region2 are the same?????

I believe that the Die Hard 1 and 2 re-releases are identical to their R1 brothers. DHWAV though loses the DTS track I believe when it is released by Buena Vista next month!!!
I am puzzled why anyone would buy the UK editions if they have multiregion players? Cheaper, nice box for the three and obviously DHWAV in all its DTS glory!!

i was under the impression that only the first film SE was available separately in R1, the other two are only in the box

Its not slightly more as you can get it for £30.70 online, so its £12.28 more. Quite a difference.
