View Full Version : Is Tigerland any good?
I have heard some interesting comments on this movie. Has anyone seen it, is it as good as they say it is?
I say this because I am thinking of getting the region 1 disc which is out now.

The film is worth a watch, maybe not a keeper - but worth seeing. Colin Farrell is excellent considering his Irish heritage - he's got that Texas accent spot on.
Disc is no great shakes, a commentary is that's your bag - probably most interesting supplement is the audition reel.
This was a blind buy for me and I was very happy with the film, I did trade it on however as I didn't feel that i'd get around to watching it again.
yep its a very good film, give it a watch!
It's worth getting for three main reasons:
1) Colin Farrell - Class performance by the sexiest actor in Hollywood!
2) The fantastic cinematography by Matthew Libatique - He did "Pi", "Requiem for a dream" and "Josie & the pussycats". The guy is a genius!
3) Joel Schumacher directed it - I forgive him for every crap film he's ever made! This is a touching, beautifully acted and I thought, ultimately moving film about friendship. Schumacher directs it all with sensitivity and great technique.
So, yeah, I can't recommend it enough really!

This is one of the best films I've seen in a long time. Colin Farrell plays Bozz to perfection and creates a truly authentic anti-hero.
Don't buy it if it's an action movie your after, because this isn't it.
But if it's quality drama that you like. Go for it.
...and here's a right enthousiastic review of the movie and the DVD:

i agree with everything Richie and Fatboy said -- don't expect an action packed war film, christ the soldiers never even leave the US!!! Tigerland is the training ground for people going into nam. It's got a cool documentary feel about it. I'd class it as a pyschological war film, it's more about the characters. I thought it was one of the best films i saw last year, and will buy it when i get a good R2 price. The performances are truly great, Farrel in particular.
How does someone redeem themselves after doing Batman And Robin??? ---
ANSWER - Tigerland!!!
if you don't decide to buy, at least go to your local Blockbuster and rent it, you shall not be dissapointed!!! :)
I have this on order finally >
I rented it by chance before Christmas, and LOVED it...
...and as posted before I 'nearly' forgive Joel for his back-catalogue!!
Very proud of our homeboy Colin Farrell ! :D

Sticker - it'd probably take a Dub to notice, but Colin Farrell's accent does slip a couple of times :D
