Nicked totally and un-ashamedly from the ace Abbeyrd's Beatle Page (http://abbeyrd.best.vwh.net/):
Richard Porter, editor of the past Beatle mag Off the Beatle Track and who runs the London Beatles Walks, has reported in the rec.music.beatles.info newsgroup that he has it "on good authority" that the Anthology videos have been remixed to 5.1 surround sound by the same people who did the YS Songtrack. The logical conclusion, as Richard states, is that a DVD release is in the works. He said the mixing had just been finished and a celebration gathering of those involved was due to take place at Abbey Road the day George's death was announced. He also says that because of "red tape," George never heard the remixes. This is obviously a rumor, but there have been reports of a DVD release being under consideration for some time.
How cool would this be? I wonder how many DVD's it would be on? The VHS version was on 8 vids with each vid lasting 1 1/2 hours (or thereabouts). How much as well?
Maybe a three disc set - £50?

About time too  Any rumours on extras, outtakes, extended footage, etc?
Just when I thought my credit card was going to have a rest...
A bit more news on this from this site http://www.beatles-news.net/
January 10, 2003 - The most recent update of The Digital Bits has the Beatles Anthology (on DVD) listed for release on April 8th. The information comes from Matt Rowe (also of Music Tap) who's been in contact with EMI regrading their 2003 DVD-Audio release plans. Look for a detailed update on that subject in next Monday's Music Tap . Matt indicates there will be a few surprises.
So hopefully this site( http://www.musictap.net/ ) will have more news on Monday.
I've been waiting for this so once the price isn't too bad it'll be winging its way to me (not that the video version was cheap)

Very pleasing news, but if the VHS version's pricepoint is any indication, it will cost a packet, not because it has to, but because of its value to the Yoko Ono retirement fund...

Go on then I'll play along, don't call me Shirley.
And I didn't alter the date I just repeated it and put it in bold. I thought that since it was from a U.S. site people would know it meant 8th April and if I had chaged it to 8/4 it would have just created confusion as to whether I'd typed it wrong.

While we're waiting for Anthology, this DVD set might be interesting for fellow Beatles fans as well: http://www.edsullivan.com/
Ordered it two weeks ago and got it today. Only watched the Beatles' performances so far and the quality is excellent (picture top, original mono top, less impressed with the remixed DD5.1). The 64 shows are also partly featured on the "First US Visit" DVD but for me the real attraction was the 65 show with the Beatles performing I Feel Fine, I'm Down, Act Naturally, Ticket To Ride, Yesterday and Help (with John in top form mixing up the lyrics ;)).

Talking about The Beatles, any news on a DVD release of Let it Be?
This use to be shown on the telly during the school holidays in the late 70s/early 80s.

I've ordered this from Amazon.ca (http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00008GKEG/qid=1046364713/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_3_1/702-5533889-5521624) with a voucher, it came to about £30, I'm quite happy with that :)
Does anyone know if the R2 version will have a DTS soundtrack?

Every advert/press release/trailer, etc has it down as DTS, but I just don't trust them anymore :oh-hum: Thats why I want to see a review to confirm it, but at this rate Amazon.ca will have delivered mine before I see any reviews.

I have to say - so what if it does have dts ? None of their tracks were mastered that way and the vast majority of remastered multi-channel ones I've heard have been poor. I'd rather just have a decent stereo (or mono if made that way) soundtrack (and good video quality obviously).

The Queen DTS remixes are very good, and given the work that is said to have gone into this (starting before George Harrison died) I would welcome DTS.
Could someone please clarify something for me, I know this is a TV series that ran, but the music, is it only 30 seconds here, 40 seconds there, or are the complete tracks included in the series?
Thanks.
Just saw this in Virgin Megastore.
Am I right in thinking this was shot on Video/'Made for TV' so there's no PAL speed up issues regarding the r2 version...?
