Plasma /lcd question

Hey guys my parents want a new tv and they want a big screen......

Intrested in the sony tv in the bargain forums for £500 but i hear its got poor sd output, is this the norm with all lcd's as my parents will use the telly 90% of the time using a crappy zee tv signal off virgin tv..........

In a word, unfortunately, yes IMHO :(

If you want decent SD performance then look at either Panasonic plasma which has a pretty good reputation in this area or even better [though much more expensive] Pioneer plasma.

Again, plasmas will generally have better blacks and more natural colours anyway.

I can vouch for the Panasonic TV's for the price.

I have connected to my V+ box and the SD stuff looks great. The Hd stuff is a big WOW!
