Hi,
Just got this TV and about to set it up.
Any ideas on the setup of this TV, what are the best settings to have it on?
I am going to be connecting a V+ box on HDMI, 360 on HDMI, DVD player on RGB Scart and Wii on RGB Scart. Many thanks in advance.
Hi, half everything for the first 200 hours - cinema seems to be one of the accepted settings for this. Looks a bit "soft" at first but you'll get used to it even though you think it prob looks a bit crap initially. DONT stick it on dynamic. I'm sure others will have good advice too for you. Great choice in set btw, I'm still loving mine & still blown away when putting the 360 into it.

I do believe there's a link to guide on here somewhere for this set, I fully intended to get this TV a while back so I saved the link I remember.

I think I found the one you are on about over on the AV Forums.
I will post it here later in case anyone else needs it...
It's a great set and even on 720, my Xbox 360 looks stunning on it.
I have a TH42PX80B and never reduced anything at first. Always just left it on Normal setting.

Give it a try. It looks a good, soft, but detailed picture and looks fine even on SD.

Interesting thread thanks.
I have the same set, but the 70 instead of the 80. Could I use the same settings do you think?
Thanks,
Nick

Don't see why not. Give it a go, you can always change them back if you don't like it.

Having it setup on cinema and the picture being soft hasn't been a problem. by last two TVs were Rear Projection so used to the soft image.
Interestingly this TV has gone up to £749 on Currys website, from the £639 I got it for a few weeks back. Any reason for this? Has it gone up everywhere and is it normal for TVs not returning from a sale to increase in price
Prices do fluctuate all the time, partly based on supply and demand, competition with other stores or introduction of discount codes. Conceivably, prices do sometimes rise in the run up to Christmas and then fall again in the new year. There's also the possibility that prices might rise because of the weakness of the pound at the moment (especially if it remains so for a sustained period). Having said that, the best price currently in-store only seems to be Richer Sounds (http://www.richersounds.com/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=PANA-TH42PX80B) where it's £599 (or £659.90 with the 5 year warranty). The alternative is Amazon (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=8&url=http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0013UJS5Y/thedvdforums-21) which is £627.57 delivered.

The best advice is to never go and check the prices once you've bought the thing..
Just enjoy it.

Something that does bug me with the TV when I set my Virgin box to HMDI is some channels appear 4:3. During advert breaks it switches to 16:9 and then back to 4:3 when the program is back on. I can use the picture button as it is already set to 16:9 the only option is to use one of the zoom settings, but that looks pants.
It's not a problem on this TV when I switch to 16:9 on scart it fills the screen the whole time and was the same on my old TV.
So can I get round this or is it something I just have to put up with?

This will come in handy when mine arrives on Tuesday (bought on Friday from Argos for £645 delivered with 3 year warranty).
