It might look gorgeous when you first get it. But after you've watched the DVD for the 200th time and the cardboard case decides to fall apart in your hands, you come to the realisation that perhaps dull boring plastic is more practical.

It's even worse if you're always lending out your boxsets to friends because apparently cardboard doesn't travel well.
Single and double cases are easy enough to find but anything able to hold three or more DVDs is a problem. I've been lending out my Buffy Boxsets (don't mention Season 2 Packaging fiasco ) in 6 separate DVD cases or my caselogic safekeeping wallets, both solutions being less than ideal.

I've just found the answer for the Boxset Problem.

DVD Alpha Keepcases (http://www.inetdvd.com/store/cases.asp)

The Alpha cases are very cool but I've never seen these in the UK. Do any UK suppliers do these? Strangely the cases holding 7 DVDs costs less than the ones holding 5 or 6.

Anyway, it works out around £3.00 to £3.50 for each case depending on packaging, delivery and quantity options. Which is very reasonable since it costs about £2.00 for 6 single cases or three double cases. Plus it just looks a lot neater to have your 6 disc boxset in one case with some well designed coverart.

Oh and I've found some coverart for these cases at
DVD Coverart.com (http://www.dvdcoverart.com/)

Here's a DVD Cover for
Buffy Saeson 1 (http://www.dvdcoverart.com/buffy_s1.jpg).

Personally I dont bother getting new cases for DVDs in cardboard packaging, although I know what you mean.... :/ Moulin Rouge pretty much fell apart as I was taking off the cellophane :o

Am I the only person never to have had a problem with Cardboard cases ? I do have a problem with amaray cases and double alphas that arrive in the post a bit squashed or with crinkled plastic. Does anyone know of anywhere in the UK to buy single Amaray or Double Alpas to replace damaged ones ?

Thanks

Thanks Our very own forum amaray-trader Baps should be able to help you out. Check out this thread here (http://www.thedvdforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9480).

Well, I was about to post a new thread, but this'll do nicely.

I have recently purchased Fawlty Towers and HHGTTG on BBC DVD with cardboard slipcases and shabby plastic trays (another word starting with sh would be more appropriate). In total, there are 5 DVDs. Last night, I checked the DVDs and already, three have developed cracks from the centre hole (I'm getting a replacement for Hitch Hikers). In addition, they don't actually hold the discs that well (all of the discs came loose during shipping, and the merest bump dislodges them).

The other gripe I have is that once they're damaged, they're irreplaceable. My Godfather set got damaged owing to MVC's (lack of) packaging. Can I fix it by going down to the shop and getting a replacement Amaray? Errr... No.

For me, these cardboard trays have definitely replaced snappers as the packaging method that should be eliminated first.

Well this is embarrassing.

How did I manage to start this thread in the Movie and DVD discussion forum?

More to the point, how come noone's called me on it?

Are you all getting soft? Not that I'm complaining, mind.

Never had a problem with the cardboard cases... I think they're FAR superior to the amaray cases and double alphas...

particularly Fight Cub...
