29squids.
Havn't checked any other suppliers yet.
£29 for this steaming pile of..........!!!???
Apart from maybe Claire Danes, the film sucked bigtime.......wouldn't pay £10 in the HMV sale let alone £29!
The £29 is for the Romeo and Juliet/Moulin Rouge double pack. It is only £14.99 on its own.

Yeah, to something more appropriate like, 'Badly dated Shakespeare-esque chick flick + Ewan Mcgregor selling his soul to the devil in a chick flick musical, double pack dvd'.

Well I havent mentioned Moulin Rouge in this thread once, nor do I really care about its DVD release. I do however care for a decent release of Romeo & Juliet which is tops imo !.

From the title of your thread I just assumed it was going to be a 'Rachel Stevens uncut' dvd or something. Alas no :(

Agreed. everyone is welcome to their own opinions but I thought this was cack (even with Claire Danes). real chick flick IMO but then again I do own a copy of the Saint. i'll get my coat.

Its a remake of the worlds biggest love story !!!.
:D
have to also agree about the film being crap. It's got nothing to do with the actors either (as much of a pretty boy as Leo DiCaprio is i think he's a good actor) i just can't stand Baz Luhrmanns style - it's bloody AWFUL!
Then again having said that im the guy who owns and really enjoys:
1. Ghosts Of Mars
2. Rat Race
3. Robocop 2 & 3
4. Get Carter (Stallone remake)
TAXI! :D :D
I'm with you Jimmyboy, I love this film although not a huge fan of Leo. Any news on a R1 release date yet?
And do we have to degenerate into a "I wouldn't pay squat for this pile of cack" thread like so often happens. The guy is just giving people some info not asking for opinions.
well, to counterbalance the discerning voices, I can't wait for this one. I loved the movie and it'll be a valuable part of my collection. Brilliantly updated with the guns, cars, etc. Tybalt (John Leguizamo) is superb!
Mind you, assuming it's getting the SE treatment across all normal regions, I'm gonna wait and see who's comes out tops. Very probably the same across all, but I'll prolly go for R4 to go with my R4 Moulin Rouge.
Any news on Strictly Ballroom? I've not seen that one, but given I've liked Mr Luhrmann's other stuff, I've gotta check it out!
Matt.
i just seen Strictly Ballroom on dvd in HMV the other day.
Doesn't look like it's got any really special extra features:
Trailer
Behind The Scenes Featurette
Music Video
Biographies
Interactive Menu
Scene Access
Digitally Remastered
but i heard the transfer was supposed to be perfectly fine (though i cant say for certain as it's not really a dvd im interested in getting)
www.play.com are selling it for £11.99 so if you want to see the film it may be worth a look
here's a direct link to the dvd:

i LOVE this film, and have been waiting for a special edition for ever.
But looking at the special features....a commentary and some galleries....not very special IMHO.
well, have to wait and see....

i agree. I loved the movie. thought it was great. can't wait for a new release, and it's well deserved.
Another title i have to update..
going along side: Die Hards, From Dusk Till Dawn.
after this update - i wont bother rebuying anything else..
unless FOX plan a Point Break S.E

what can an SE offer for R+J? the R2 is a very good film anyway (well i like it!)
the pic quality is good, the sound is too.
So apart form extra features (which i dont really watch anyway) and possibly DTS i wouldnt get it again.
BTW i got it for £7.99 in the dixons sale the other year!

You also got a 2.0 Stereo audio track then.
I got a copy of the bare bones R2 for £7.50 and it is lacking in Special Features but I agree the picture is pretty good and it has a Dolby Digital soundtrack.
I'll still get the SE though:D
