I know what you mean. I've always been a keyboard person. Just prefer it and it's much better than touch screen. But I think I'm going to have to make an expception for this phone. If I can't get to grips with it i'll probably just sell it.
let us know how it handles, I'm fed up of my TyTn II now. Touch on it is so hit and miss without using the stylus.

there is a rumour that HTC may well release an HTC HD Pro (ie add a slide out keyboard)...I might wait till the new year to see if this "news" develops...

Does it have a nice touch screen (like the iPhone) or the pressure type touch screen (like the HTC Touch Diamond)?

from what i remeber it is wsvga screen.. its really really really really clear (better coloours and etc..) but the front of the screen isn't glass like the iphone more of the plastic like the touch
Its a resistive touchscreen (same as diamond), not capacitive like the iphone/G1.
Orange started selling these yesterday for delivery today. I'm very tempted with one as my contract on my E650 finishes tomorrow. My mate ordered one yesterday so I think I'll have a look at his first though just to see what it's like size wise.

I might do if I don't see him by the weekend. He lives 10 minutes away from my work though and the nearest Orange shop is 15 miles away from work ;)

Mine has just been delivered.
First impressions;
Feels very solid and well made
The display is fantastic - the res and colours really are the best I have seen on a phone or PDA.
Its exactly the same size as an iPhone but feels ever so lightly heavier.
The screen - even though its pressure sensitive - feels pretty responsive.
It came with a screen protector and an 8Gb Mirco Card.
Just waiting on Orange activating it now. Ill do another post in a day or so when I have had the chance to use it a bit more.
What's the keyboard like to use?

Just got mine too. Haven't really had a chance to play around with it yet as I'm at work.
My first impression is that it's quite big. Bigger than my Tytn 2 but thinner and lighter.
Going to have a proper play with it when I get home.

The keyboard comes in 3 flavours;
Full QWERTY
Mini QWERTY
Phone
I found the full QWERTY a bit to small for finger use, I played around a wee but tith the Mini QUERTY, the key sizes are suitable for finger use and it qworks much the same way as the old Blackberry 7100v keyboards.
The phone keyboard is just like a standard phone and has T9 support on it as well.
Having used it for a bit now the touch sensitivity of the display is not qwuite as good as the iPhone but much better than other Smartfones - the original HTC touch for example.

Still haven't really played around with the phone too much. It's so nice that I don't want to get it dirty or much it up.
But have put a few videos on to the memory card and played them and i'm quiet dissapointed. In all honesty the video playback on such a big screen was one of the only reasons I wanted this phone.
But apart from that it's excellent.
anyone else got one?
was very interested in this but seems to be lots of feedback on the internet that the video playback is poor due to lack of acceleration.
I got mine yesterday. Coming from a E650 (and a C600 and C500 before that) some of the options took a bit of finding but loving it up to now. Still playing around with it though at the minute.

Yes you're right! The video playback is not as good as you would expect from this phone. Especially as there were problems with previous WinMo phones. Something to do with HTC using different suppliers for the graphics accelarator or something like that anyway. But apart from that the phone is really good.
First few days I thought I wouldn't be able to deal with it. But now I'm going to miss it when I have to give it back.

And there might be a possible fix for the poor video playback.

hopefully something comes out soon and this doesnt take 6 months.
would also work for the sony xperia x1 too i notice.
you may be able to answer a question Pablo.
I know bbc iplayer loads but doesnt display the flash videos (yet).
however on some programmes you get an option for download for media players..
does this show up on the Touch HD?
