Just seen this on Play. Don't know if it's been posted before, but thought I'd post it just in case.

Argh that's the sort of DVD i hate (the best classic episodes of the movie biz) it's like best of "something".. i prefer complete series rather than best bits (besides they are all going to be on full series sets sooner) so this is a cash in:D

It's very sensible marketing on Fox's part - believe it or not, not everyone is anal enough to want to buy every single episode of a complete season (especially not given the price: yes, I know the first box was only £17.99 at Play, but the first season was half the usual length!), so a taster compilation makes sound commercial sense.

It's not as though they're doing this <U>instead of</U> the complete seasons, so I don't see what the problem is!

I see both sides of the argument here. I'm on the side of "I'm not gonna buy a rip off like that" but as you say not everyone will want all the episodes. But the price of it is a bit cheeky on the part of fox though. Also how would this 'teaser' effect the production of the season 2 release?

I think the season 2 dvd of the simpsons is on its way as amazon.co.uk has got it listed for the 17th June this year.

The interesting thing is even though season 2 is twice the length of season 1 it is the same price.

Could this be a similiar issue as with the season 1 vs season 2 of buffy.

It might be a good time to get these on pre-order.

According to the review on the dvdtimes site ( http://www.dvdtimes.org.uk/index.cgi?page=Review&id=406&story=2446 )

The Simpsons themed discs appear to be VHS->DVD transfers (not remasted like the season boxsets and no DD5.1)

With my futurama boxset I got a leaflet inside saying that Simpsons season 2 is coming in may. There was also anothere Simpsons DVD on the other side with all the musical one sor something.

I didn't get a leaflet in mine. but hey on another subject the Futurama episodes are awesome crystal clear Animation.. I hope the later simpsons can match that..

Just preordered it on amazon to be on the safe side... maybe it'll be like what happened with buffy season 2 which I got for I think £35 from amazon
