Well, It took long enough, New Line USA have finally inked in the US theatrical date of April 26th 2002.
Looking forward to booking my trip to the US now, I find opening night whatching a Friday 13th movie in an American cinema to be the most fun, kids screaming, throwing popcorn at the screen & laughing their asses off!
Anyone else popping over to see Jason's exploits on the big screen US style?
My trips started while in Florida, many years ago I caught a late night 1st showing of Part 5 :o)
And please no redundant 'I hate f13th movies' or 'how could anyone watch that crap' messages, if you haven't got anything constructive to say, then keep it shut please ;)
Ciao Daliah.
Being a Big fan of the masked 1 i could not wait and got hold of a copy,All i can say is it is Different and certainly worth a watch and the SFX are half decent as well.
Definately a DVD purchase

I managed to download some of it, but after the excellent opening credits, I stopped myself, glad I did as April isn't too long to wait to see it on a big screen in DTS...
I presume the R1 SE dvd will street some time in October, just in time for Halloween.
Btw THX what do you think about Jason's make-up from Part 7, I personally love how he looks with his back bone showing etc.
Daliah.
Hopefully it will be better than Halloween H20! :D

Yeah I was mighty dissapointed with H20, there I was late night preview with a group of friends really up for a good fright & H20 unspools before our eyes
Saying that it had a few tense well shot scenes, but fell down flat with that loud mouth LL unCool J & at least it isn't a Miramax movie!

Yeah It sounds like hell, but the audience is real quite until a kill scene & then all hell breaks loose!
It also depends on what type of area you see it in, I once made the mistake of watching a horror movie in a dope n guns part of New York, sheesh I was more scared of the people around me than anything on the screen!
I'd say Spring break in Florida is about the best for an up for it horror crowd.

Daliah yes i did like Part 7 but the make up in X is fanatastic and not to give the game away his Metamorph near the end is Great

Gave up on a screener copy of X after twenty minutes... high body count, low script quality, acting quality etc... lots of
"Hey, let's see what happens if we do <stupid thing>" moments.

And you were expecting a well written script & award worthy acting in a F13th film? :p :p
Please, next thing I'll hear someone went to see a slasher film for social comment

In fairness, no, but I was expecting *something* better than this! Mind you, the Halloween and Elm Street franchises had a few ropey chapters too! ;)
I haven't seen all of them before, though, my next door neighbour has borrowed it tonight, and he's seen them all, so his judgement is probably more valid than mine. I've heard laughter through the wall, though...
[Update]
OK, he totally hated it! Thought it was easily the worst of the series, unintentionally hilarious in places, and all over just not very good at all.
FWIW, it rips off Aliens and Star Trek no end [in fact, it basically *is* Aliens in several respects]
MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW
One of the crew members is an android, there's cryogenic hypersleep, a holodeck affair (very funny actually), and he gets pushed out of an airlock
From what site can I get a 'copy' of this movie?
But will it ever get a a screening over here? I bet it will be a straight to video.
After seeing the trailer i think it looks great.
Daliah your better off waiting in the UK for the uncut version of the movie as the U.S version is cut to get an "R" .
Seen it on vcd over a month ago its a cool film cant wait for part 11 hint dvdric

I'm not too fussed about watching a cut version, it's where I see it that counts plus the unrated print will be out on dvd in the US by October, so what's the point?
Like I said, i love watching them in a US cinema full of dating teens on opening night, you really have to expirience it to understand what it's like!
I'm waiting until Warner Japan decide to get their finger out & release part 1 on dvd, as this will be the uncut version, like the old Japanese Laserdisc I used to own.
Someone at Pathe told me Jason X is a straight to video in the UK.
