Nokia: Auto-update of date & time

Hi.

On my Nokia 2630, I have the following option set:

Settings > Date And Time > Auto-update of date & time > Confirm first

But yesterday, when the clocks went back, nothing happened. Instead I had to change the clock by an hour manually.

From speaking with friends, this also happens on their Nokia's (various models).

Anyone know why or got any ideas to resolve?

I think that is to allow the network to set the time. Maybe the networks do not support the functionality.

The Term is NITZ 'Network Informed Time Zone'

Orange support it last time I checked. But it's normaly updated when the phone is powered up and requests a connection from the network using a spare signalling channel.

This seems stupid - are you telling me that with everything a phone can do, it can't update the time twice a year?

Or maybe when you started a call with the network, i cant really remember. What NITZ stood for was a question I set for the vodafone staff at the Birmingham call centre back in 1999 when I worked for Nokia.

I'm on o2 and my E65 didnt update.

I'm O2 too. It seems like such a simple thing. It shouldn't be down to the network really, it should be in built to the software on the phone calendar.

It should. Most new mid-high end phones will now auto-update time/date. Most notably Windows Mobile and Symbian-based handsets.

I've got an E65 too, I'm on vodafone and it did update, I've not touched the settings since I first got the phone earlier this year - must be a network thing then!

I'm on vodafone and my N95 updated fine.

My N96 on Vodafone updated to GMT then when I went to Spain it was updated by Vodafone ES to CET

my T-mobile SE W910i updates automatically in every country i've been to, except the UK! so that makes me think its a network thing..
