Just recieved the Robocop trilogy courtesy of Ringo's today, went to watch Robocop in my Toshiba 100E (From Techtronics with multi-region mod) and it gives me a Disc Error. I've got 150 DVD's and i've never ever had a problem with anything else.

It works fine in my Parents Region 2 Toshiba 110

Did MGM put RCE on this Disc? I thought only a few Region 1 Discs had Region code enhancement.....anyone else got a 100E? Does it work ok on yours?

Apparently some MGM discs have problems on certain Toshiba (and other) players. I wasn't aware of this until I bought an R4 copy of Heaven's Gate which won't play at all on my Toshiba SD100 (I keep getting the disc error message) but plays fine on a Samsung and Panasonic. When I emailed the retailer he said some MGM discs just won't play on certain players.

Interesting.

Not very happy about it though. Silence of the Lambs, The Terminator, Platoon and the Bond films all work fine aswell (Those being MGM DVD's)

The thing is some lower end machines cannot cope with the branching in some of the newer discs. My Samsung blew up! Got a Sony now (cost £400.00) but the saying 'you gets what ya pays for' is sometimes unfortunately true (usually in a very expensive way :0(

The Toshiba 100E, although a budget player is rated VERY highly on it's Audio and Visual quality though.

I guess the branching could be the cause of the problem, unlike Abyss, Terminator 2 etc, it isn't seemless.

That's interesting. One of the few - if not only - discs that I have had trouble with on my Wharfedale is the 'Magnificent Seven SE', in which the doscumentary breaks up and refuses to play in chapter 2. When I posted a question about it here, a few other people said that they had experienced the same thing - on a variety of players.

I get the pixellation problems alot on some MGM discs, yet when I try them on me mates PS2 or my PC they play 100% fine.

So is there any way of curing the Toshiba SD100-E Robocop problem? Unfortunately the Toshiba is my only player and Robocop is one of my favourite films. Any help would be appreciated.

Just bought Robocop & experienced the same problem on my Tosh`.
However, I eventually got it to play by doing the following:

When it displays check disc/disc error open & close the disc draw to cancel the error message. As soon as the draw closes press the play button several times & it should work........ it did for me anyway.(use the button on the player, not the remote)Dont know if it will work again as Ive left it running so that I can watch it.
Hope it works for you :D

Update..... had to stop the film early as the wife thought it was a bit to violent for the little one. Tried to reload it & had to mess about for ages but it eventually worked. This time I just kept opening & closing the draw until it loaded. So there does`nt seem to be a particular sequence to get it to load....... just purservere!

Try selecting a Title and chapter?
