Was using my N95-8GB with SatNav today and it restarted and would not turn on again. When I finally got it to turn on the battery low warning sounded and it shut off again.

I've got home and plugged it in to the charger and it is refusing to charge - the normal "beep" you get and the "Charging" message are not coming up. I've also noticed that the battery is getting very warm to the touch - this may of course be normal as I don't have the cover off that often.

EDIT : I'm also just getting a white screen when inserting the battery, but it has booted since the problem first started.

Any suggestions?

This is on contract with o2 - who would be responsible for repairing/replacing this?

Just briefly got it to charge...left the room and it had "white-screened" again, the battery/phone temps are really high. Can't get it to boot at all now

Nokia would, as it is them who honour the warranty. When did you buy it and where did you buy it from, as it can differ from from place to place what can be done...your best bet is just to nip in to where you bought it from and ask them as it just sounds like a warranty fault.

If you are happy resetting and losing the data on there then you could try the following

+ Turn off the mobile device.
+ Press and Hold the following three buttons: the green Call Answer button, the “*” button, and the number “3″ button.
+ While holding these buttons, turn on the phone and keep holding the keys untill the mobile phone restarts and prompts you to enter details.

The hard reset will not work.

Tried a friends battery - it started to boot then "white-screened" and got stuck in a reboot loop.

It was raining yesterday but I'm certain it didn't get wet.

p.s. it was bought from o2 online, they have arranged a return.
