well, I'm not sure about an anamorphic transfer, but the R3 versions are not to be sniffed at. Taxi 2 has a DTS soundtrack too!

You can prolly guess as to how cheap they can be picked up for!

I'll second that, got them both from Coolashop for about £7 each inc delivery! The DTS soundtrack is a bit of a let-down as there's not too much action on the surrounds in the second film. The first is DD 5.1 and definitely doesn't have an anamorphic transfer so I suspect that Taxi 2 is also non-anamorphic but the picture is good enough on both.

Taxi is non-anamorphic (Although I'm sure I read somewhere about an anamorphic Korean version) on R2 and R3. It's prologic on R2 and DD5.1 on R3. Be aware that the picture is framed with the english subs so that a normal 'zoom' mode on a widescreen TVcuts out the second line of subtitles (in both regions) ! Fortunately I've got a Sony Wega that allows you to shift the picture upwards, so that's not a problem for me.

Taxi 2 is anamorphic on R3 with DTS and DD5.1. No idea about R2.

I'm sure that there was a couple of DVDTimes reviews about these.

Pretty obviously the R3 ones are the ones to go for as they a damn sight cheaper !!! :D

Does the R3 version of Taxi2 have English subtitles, as the R2 version I bought doesn't........

......also, who are the good R3 suppliers ?

The R3 version of Taxi 2 that I bought through dddhouse.com has English subs. The disc was cheap and didn't take long to arrive in the US. Don't know what shipping policies are to the UK...

According to this (http://www.dvdcompare.org.uk/comparisons/film_results_page.php?fid=1336), the best to get is a R0 Korean release. Anamorphic with English subs plus a bunch of extras and DD5.1!

Anyone want to buy my UK R2 then? :D

I wonder where you get the Korean version?

Ah, maybe here (http://www.dvd.co.kr/good_view.asp?gd=S0112200002). Anyone understand Korean?

Shame it's NTSC though, but still looks good.

What currency do they use? Seem to be figures of 18,800 and 188 on that page but no idea what they translate into.

18,000 KRW South Korea Won = 9.6 GBP United Kingdom Pounds
(1 KRW = 0.000533442 GBP 1 GBP = 1,874.62 KRW) :D

I am really tempted to get these from the korean store above - I'll have a play with the site and let you know.

Update - nightmare  virtually impossible!

We need the best korean translator known to humanity
We need him here and we need need him now :D

I have mailed them and I think I have ordered the 2 films but didn't enter any payment details so looks like I'll be getting them for free :p

www.hkflix.com sells the Korean version of Taxi. I own it and it's excellent except that the film is cut by a couple seconds. The scene where it shows the main guy's girlfriend nude is not included.

I've just ordered the Korean Taxi 1 from here (http://www.yeondvd.com) but don't know the price yet :D. They said it will probably be $21 + $2.95 shipping.

take a look at the 'Taxi - Anamorphic DVD' thread in the Mainstream sectoin of BulletsnBabes forums - they've just confirmed that 'Taxi' is cut on its Korean release.

Damn shame as i was considering getting this...

Taxi thread (http://www.bulletsnbabesdvds.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Forum&file=index&action=viewtopic&topic=1589&forum=2&25) - you want the post about 5 from the bottom by davet1...i've summarised below though for you...

yangshouwen <i>aka</i> Mr.Vampire wrote...

I think the DVDtalk international forum found out that the korean version of Taxi had brief seconds of nudity deleted. Thought I'd like to tell people first.

then davet1 wrote...

I just checked and it's true. The brief shot of Marion Cotillard and Samy Naceri in bed at around 42 minutes is gone from the Korean version

and later clarified with..

It jumps from previous scene outside to where she is putting on her bra and yelling at him, so the whole part of him getting into bed and them talking is cut

Cheers kanedaa - that was impressively quick :)

To be honest I have enough porn to not let the loss of boobs put me off :D I understand some people swear by the original uncut version as they should but in this case I'm going for anamorphic and extras over breasts

Any one want the French edition? Anamorphic, no English subtitles, DD5.1. Got the R3 edition instead, plus a VHS copy taped off Film Four.

Damn. I just bought the Taxi 1 / Taxi 2 Set from the UK the other day. The 2.0 spec is disappointing on Taxi 1. Still haven't really watched it yet.

Oh well, I'll live with it. They be a doin' Taxi 3 also. So cool.

For a completely accurate (well it is know, thanks to me) comparison of TAXI and TAXI 2. Click here -

http://www.dvdcompare.org.uk/comparisons/comparisons.php

Basiclly Taxi is best on HK DVD as it has DD5.1 or Korean DVD as it is Anamorphic and has loads of extras (athough it is cut).

Taxi 2 is best on Korean DVD as it has DTS. As for places to buy the Korean DVD's, click here -

http://www.dvdasian.com/

They are US based so charge in dollars, except to pay £15 for each or £3.50 for the HK DVD's from -

http://www.dddhouse.com/ (yes they are reliable and very good).

Finished watching the UK Taxi and Taxi 2.

I enjoyed both and the 2.0 didn't bug me, just because the Taxi 2 5.1 track was really lame, I don't even remember anything in the rears.
