I don't think you can get Discovery channels on their own only as part of a subscription to Sky or on cable with Virgin Media.

Having said that some Discovery programmes I think are available as part of Top Up Tv (http://www.radioandtelly.co.uk/topuptvanytime.html) with a special Freeview box but that costs £10 a month as well.

But good news is on the horizon it looks like Discovery have just announced that they will be launching a FREE channel on FreeView (http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008/oct/17/television) in the early part of next year. It will carry some programmes from the subscription channels.

National Geographic is I think completely spearate from Discovery so prob need a sub to get that.

There is no Discovery or Nat. Geographic content on BT Vision either.

However, apart from Sky and Cable, they are available as part of the 'Entertainment Xtras Mix' pack on the Tiscali TV service.
