A friend of mine has told me of this channel which is available on digital satellite. Does anyone know if you can get access to it in the UK. The reason I want to know is because it shows some of the best foreign films and puts sky digital to shame.

On the subject of satellite tele, has anyone access to the scandinavian channels that were on analogue (d2mac) before being closed down last year? I think one of them was tv1000.

When I was over in France, Canal + did in fact show the aforementioned kind of movie - I watched one at 4am and it was top quality :D

The aforementioned movie is not "that particular kind of movie" but rather the amelie, brotherhood of the wolf kind of movie.

If you're willing to spend around £600 then you can get access to roughly 40 ppv movie channels and lots more of the Canal+ type channels, 24 hour porn channels, live Saturday Premiership football, ppv sport. Basically all the premium sky stuff and lots more besides. And all this without paying a penny to subscribe or ppv. :D I now only pay Sky £16 per month thus saving myself £20 a month and i get all the ppv stuff too.

The best part of it is that its totally legal because you can't actually subscribe to these channels from here in the UK.

To get TV100 etc you need a very large dish in the UK, approx 1.5m in diameter:eek: .

Have a look here (http://www.forumz.co.uk/) for lots of info.

Thanks for the info paul. The forums require you to register but the administrators have disabled registration. Do you know any other useful resources online regarding canal +, tv 1000 etc?

www.lyngsat.com has plenty of info on what channels are where and links to the official websites of the broadcasters.

I thought they made it illegal to sell the relevant equipment in the UK for that a few years back? Wasn't there some big court case that stopped it all?
Irrispective of that, any other sites with info on what you need and where to get it? ;)

That was for the football, due to the premiership moaning about pubs showing live saturday games. They made it illegal to sell pre-programmed cards, but theres nothing to stop you doing it yourself.

Not sure of any other sites, but the gear you need is:

80-100 cm Dish + mount Approx £100

Optional motor mount Approx £100

Good receiver eg Humax 5400z (which can be upgraded to the allcam version for free) £300

Gold cards or better. £5-20 each

Card Programmer £30-100

All this can be installed yourself if you have the knowledge and minimal DIY skill, plus a little common sense.

And obviously, internet acces to get the files to program into the cards.

With regards as to where to purchase, check out What Satellite or one of the other sat mags.

Is it possible to get Canal + viewing cards from any UK dealers? I know that the analogue transmission has closed but can you get cards for canal digital?

Paul.B

You won't get official ones, and i doubt you will find many pirated ones. If you do then they will probably cost you as much as a Fun-Card + programmer. Then when the codes change it will be redundant anyhow.

Which Canal + did you want? They are a very large company with Canal+ channels aimed at various different countries, each with varying encryption, and each showing different programmes.

If you want to get the Scandinavian Canal+, i think you can buy the official cards, but they aren't cheap. Also the 1.5M dish size is enormous and you will need planning permission for it.

I want the easiest one to receive i.e with 80com dish. I'm not interested in the footy so don't need Canal + Swe, Nor or De. Is there one which is fairly easy to access via inputting codes from internet. Any help would be appreciated.

If you're not bothered about the Scandy stuff, then you'll get loads from Astra + hotbird with an 80cm. Probably around 20 C+ channels & a heck of a lot more. The total for those 2 sats is around 1000 channels, of which around 100 show English language stuff 95% of the time.

All these are very, very easy to program yourself, just programming one file onto a Fun-Card will get you all those channels.

do you know any sites for the codes paul?

http://www.biglarry.co.uk/ is good for a tv guide.

http://sat-digital-tv.admin.net.pl/upload/index.php is great for code files, and very fast updating when codes change.

http://duckfiles.gotoo.com/ another good file site.

Paul, is it possible to get access to canal + france via a programmable card or do you need an official viewing card? When you mean a fun card, is that just a gold wafer card or something else. Canal + is on atra 19 degrees east, can you get access to most channels including canal plus france using a fun card?

Zenza and i am sure paul will agree here this is a DVD forum and not a satellite discussion forum your best bet is to either Join Satdudez or 1 of the other many Forums available to discuss this subject,we are getting a little close to the Nuckle here with the Mention of Funcards and Silvers and goldwafers.

Zenza as paul has already given you some extremely informative sites i suggest you do a search to find out the relevant Info for card programming

And lets get back to discussing DVD's

Its certainly possible to get Canal + France in the UK, either with an official card (very very expensive and probably not that easy to get hold of) or by using a fun card.
The fun card is I guess a nickname for a card, it has a AT90S8515A pic chip, but thats not really what ya wanna know !

Canal + France, C+ 1 & 2 Netherlands, Canal + (Spain) are all available on Astra at 19deg East - you can get access to ALL of these chans, the 3 main providers - Holland, Spain, French and there are at least 20 chans in the packages, but I'd say that there are 10 - 15 really good ones and the rest are good if you can speak the native language.

A fun card and also a DS9 card (also Silvercard) will get you all these chans.

I've a Humax 5400 and with it patched its one of the best receivers around - the 5400z is out now, and with that patched its just as good as the 5400.

If you'd like more specific info about where to get the files, prv message me.
