If you bought it to replace a microwave oven then it's probably not a good buy.
If you bought it to play games, blu-ray or stream media then you may find it comes in handy.

It's a very good machine. Great Blue ray/dvd player. Games are finally showing their potiential after a slow start. It's an ugly brute though.
Dare i ask why your doubting it after buying?

I've got to admit to leaning towards my 360 in part due to being attacted to my gamerscore.

I get more out of a 360 game due to the achievements as it gives me a bit more longevity.
I only bought my PS3 for Blu-Ray. I now use it for streaming media because it is quieter, but if you gave me a choice of only one games console I could own then the 360 would win hands down against the PS3, no question at all.
I've got fed up with every PS3 games in a matter of hours, primarily due to them being a mixture of crap and not having achievements. I bought Gran Turismo Prologue a few weeks back and think I've played it for the grand total of 20 minutes.
Plus the PS3 pad is Tomy cack.
good points..
blu ray
is quiet
less likely to break then its competitor :D
little big planet :notworthy
bad points...
too epensive
ugly
I bought one Monday nite, hope i've made the right desion. The Blu-ray and no online subscription fee sold it forme.
Cant wait for COD 5.
I think you should take it out of the box.
Ironically not paying an online subscription does come at a price!
I myself am not a big online gamer but those in the know say the PS3 online service is a poor man's xbox live

Thread a bit late considering you bought one.
Should have done what I did when buying a 360 and started a 50 odd page discussion on the merits and short comings before buying one anyway.
Didn't you say you hardly ever switch it on tho nowadays Jim!? :)

True, after COD4 and GTA4 it wasn't getting turned on much. Getting a bit of use now though thanks to Fifa09. COD5 will probably get a fair spin too I reckon.
No spinning required after Nov 19th :)
I love my PS3 I think its a great piece of kit but like everyone else I use it for Blu Ray and media, when it comes to gaming my 360 wins hands down everytime

...but for many of us, we aren't so loaded that we can afford to have PS3s and an XBOX 360 (and I'm sure there are some on here who have the Wii as well).
I love my PS3, I use it about 70% for movie watching, 25% game-playing and 5% listening to music (due to its playback creation feature).

thanks guys, i did do my research before i brought it, and the built in wi-fi and no online subscription sold it for me i think. it was a big price to pay compared to the 360 though, but i do think ive made the right decision.

Its mental having all 3 imo. Theres only so many hrs in a day unless you spend every single one of them playing games. I cant play games for more than an hr at a time anymore as i keep getting trapped nerves in my left sholder from it.
I had a 360 originally but after my 2nd RROD i got a new 360 (still under warranty) from game and traded it and my games in with another shop for a PS3. I dont play online so im not missing that side of it at all. The Blu ray player rocks.

I think the PS3 is a pretty decent buy now, for its first 1-1.5 years or so I thought it was overpriced and lacked decent games, thats changed now.

I've had one about 18months now. I don't regret buying it at all, it makes a fantastic Blu Ray player and is handy for the odd exclusive game, which to be honest, there aren't that many that I like.
I've still got my 360 for games, which I'll always use for games where there's a choice, due to the better controller and the achievements.

I was considering building a HTPC.. I thought it would be a cool idea...
I could hook it to my surround system and I could play the latest game on my plasma...
I could play DivX files and watch on my Plasma..
I could surf the net and watch Youtube on my Plasma...
I could listen to music CDs, watch DVDs and Blurays...
then I thought, HANGON..I HAVE A PS3 THAT DOES ALL THESE THINGS!
Mine jsut turned up from play,
Don't know what play are playing at, but it was sent by Royal Mail 2nd class delivery so it could have turned up anytime or not at all and to make things worse on the outside of the packaging was a sticker that read "Playstation 3 80gb and GTA:IV" now is that jsut advertising it to be nicked or what?
I'am probably lucky it got deliverd at all.
I have a PS3 & 360. I think the PS3 has a much better look and build quality.
The 360 looks and feels like a cheap plastic box.
