1st night, 1st pic with it (indoors, 200mm ISO 400) - has to be a cat!:

As expected (a little) and proven later with a focus test chart - front focuses - so something to compensate for.

Love the Bokeh on this, quite clean and creamy.

So I head out to Old Styx Mill wetlands at lunchtime for some wildlife shots.
All these are with the 2.0 tc on and mostly 400mm or abouts.
1st almost nailed some ducks in flight:

Very very nice Rob.
Looks like a cracking lens, and some great shots there as well. Particularly like the forest floor one above the bokeh test.

some nice pics there.
I think there has been 3 versions of this lens out so far, the non macro (which supposedly still the best), the macro mk 1 (which did have some issues when used in heat) and the latest macro mk2. do you know which version you have and if its has HSM?
I'm thinking of getting this lens and using it with Kenko 1.4 or 2.0 tc's but I'm wondering what the focusing speeds are like. your 2.0 tc sample certainly looks a acceptably sharp. which brand tc are you using and what are the focusing speeds like?

My version of the lens is the mk1, the non macro non DG , it has HSM.
The TC is the sigma 2.0 EX , again non DG.
Focus is slower with the TC on understandably but still works. Manual focus is pretty good to.
You should get hold of the 1.4X TC, I have both, the 1.4x loses one stop but no picture quality whatsoever, when I use the 2.0x on my 120-300mm F/2.8 sigma there is a noticeable drop in quality.
NZ looks beautiful

Agreed. The 1.4x is a real star.
