I decided to give dabsexpose a whirl this week to get some digital photos in 'real format' so that I could add them to some real photos of the same event for an album.
I have to say that although the software is a little bit 'hold your hand'-ish the whole exercise was straightforward and the results are nothing short of stunning.
The software is quite good and works with you as opposed to against you. It didn't offer me much in the way of editing which is fine as this can be done elsewhere. But it is obvious that the people at pixology (who run the service) have tested it out. For instance I was able to 'add product' and then select all of my photos at once. It automatically put them in at the same size as I had selected for all of them and worked out the discounts due as the number increased - brilliant. That way I could see if I added a few more how much the price might come down.
The uploading might take a while on a 56k though, but this would be unavoidable I guess. Again they have thought about this and the whole upload procedure is done in one lot at the end, once you have agreed your order etc.
The speed of the service is amazing too. I uploaded them photos on Wednesday night and the prints were on my doorstep Friday morning. Considering I only have a 1.3mp camera too the prints (6x4) were of a 35mm compact standard.
With a higher res camera (such as a 3mp;) ) I would consider this service and price to be a real alternative to a film camera.
