View Full Version : Setting up the optimal colour on your tv?
Hi,
I remember watching the Gadget Show some time ago and they took you through the steps of setting up your colour/brightness, etc, for the optimal picture on your tv.
Yes, I know you may want different settings for films, games, etc, but this was to get you to the right starting point.
It started out by turning everything down then, IIRC, turning up the brightness so you could just see black, then taking things from there.
Does anyone have this info?
Thanks,
Grendel.
In case anyone is interested, I've found one site. Not had chance to go through it yet so don't know how good the advice is, but might be worth a go.
Also, just out of interest, I've got a Samsung LE37A559, so any specific settings for this you could give me would be welcomed.
I just tend to use the THX set up things on some DVDs - Terminator 2, Star Wars movies, etc. You run through each stage adjusting as you go and then get a sample scene from that movie which shows off what you've done.
Works well enough for me.

We appear to have the same TV, and someone on here mentioned the AVS forums as a starting point, which led me to this comprehensive thread (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=14113954#post14113954) which although is based mainly on the US model, I have used these exact settings and am pretty pleased with the results.
The newer firmwares seem to have made some changes to their settings now so I'd suggest using their settings as a starting point, but they dont seem far off the mark.

Did you get that with the tv, or can it be downloaded? I didn't get anything with my LE37A599 and can't find anything on the Samsung site.

It's DVD that you have to buy I'm afraid, contains setup routines for all sorts of audio and video settings, basically a slightly more in depth version of the THX Optimiser.
