Mobile in USA

I will be in the USA next week for 2 weeks, going to Las Vegas, Grand Canyon and San Francisco so was looking to get a cheap mobile phone option for emergencies over there.

I have a Nokia N70 unlocked and a Sony Ericsson W800i sim free but not sure if these will work in amercia?

If they do, would the best option be to get a pay as you go sim from there?

If not, what would be the best option? Pick up a cheap PAYG phone from there?

If its just for emergencies then just get a UK based PAYG sim and enable roaming on it and top it up (set to top up from credit card too). If you intend to use it as a more day to day phone then a US sim would be best

Any tri or quad band phone will work as long as you have roaming enabled on your sim card.

Are the Nokie N70 and Sony Ericsson W800i both tri band?

N70 defo works in the US as I took mine. Used both UK and US PAYG sims in it with no probs.
