View Full Version : recommend headphones for iPhone

I am sick of the included earphones falling out. I am looking for something to replace them. I prefer the inner earphones but my current ones have too large a connector to fit the iPhone. Also I would like to get some with a speaker/switch included if poss. I would consider something like the bluetooth ones in the bargain forum if I thought they'd stand up to everyday use on public transport. Any recommendations?

Assuming you have the v1 iPhone (as in 2G, not 3G), the socket is recessed (which is stupid), but I think you can buy little extension adapters on eBay (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=44) which allows you to connect any headphones.

I have the Shure SE210s which, luckily, have the right 3.5mm jack which fits into the recess.

I do have the 2G. Does the 3G not have a recessed socket? I've seen the adapters, but don't want extra connectors and things to have to deal with and remember to take along.

DOES the iPhone have Bluetooth?.....I have been told they do NOT.....but know nothing about them...

No, the 3G does not have the recessed socket. You really are going to have to go with the adapters I think.

I use over the ear headphones so can't advise on what you could use, but if you don't mind buying a bigger pair and using over the ear, then these (http://www.bose.co.uk/GB/en/home-entertainment/personal-audio/headphones/bose-audio-headphones/bose-around-ear-headphones/index.jsp) are quite simply awesome. I paid £80 for them on Tottenham Court Road based entirely on seeing someone using the on the Tube and they are the dogs danglies. They sound absolutely awesome and the sound from the iPhone through them is stunning.

Highly recommended.
