I'm due an upgrade shortly and although i have a laptop already i am currently looking at buying a netbook for web/email access on the move. I'm with Vodafone and have unlimited (500mb) internet access available, but have never actually used the net access on my laptop through the phone. As far as i'm aware it's a pretty simple case of using the USB cable and setting up the Nokia software - currently using a Nokia N95 8GB.

I have concerns about the N95 battery life as if i use the GPS or the wireless it does eat into the hours very quickly, but as long as i can use it during the day for checking emails and a bit of basic web browinsg that'll do me.

I do currently have a 2G iPhone which is pretty good for what i want but occasionally i will want faster 3G access if possible so can use my N95 now, but would like to use a small netbook over bluetooth.

Any recommendation?

I have just set this up on my Acer Aspire One with my nokia n95 8gb.

Just installed the nseries software on the Acer (which has XP running on it)

works without a problem. Did not have to do anything fancy. Nokia software even has a section field where you chose your provider (vodafone in my case) and that's it. Browsing over 3g via a usb cable connection.

Or JoikuSpot (http://www.joiku.com/?action=products&mode=productDetails&product_id=310). Won't help with batter life though.

lbphillips - have you tried it over bluetooth at all ? was hoping i would be able to do that and not even get the phone out of my pocket or bag when i want to get online.

I would imagine that it is very easy on all nokia phones, just may end up with a different model from the N95 i have already, battery life would be a definite reason to change

The acer does not have bluetooth.

However I do use this bluetooth method on my macbook without problems.
