I'm on Orange pay monthly at the mo', with an SPV M3100 (HTC TyTn) & I'm due an upgrade.

I was originally thinking of going for a TyTn II, but Orange no longer sell it which makes me wonder if a replacement is due soon. They do have the Omnia, which looks quite nice & seems quite similar but without the proper keyboard.

Anyone have any opinions on which would be better, or other suitable options? Other than standard calling, I use the phone mostly for texting, but at times need to send/receive email (& download attachments in various MS Office formats, so Windows Mobile is a must have) & surf the net.

The TyTN II replacement is the HTC Touch Pro, the Diamond with a keyboard. Not sureif/when its coming out on Orange though.

I think Orange are doing the Sony Ericsson X1 rather than the Touch Pro, and it scheduled for Uk release at the end of the month http://www.mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=5257 although, no telling when Orange will get it.

The Omnia's pretty decent for a Windows Mobile device. There are lots of keyboard options including a full qwerty one, which is comparable to the iPhone keyboard in portrait mode but can also be used in landscape. It has vibration feedback which also makes things easier, and predictive text. The camera is good, it has builtin GPS, and it's pretty quick. If you do get one I would upgrade the firmware (see www.modaco.com for details) as the latest firmware does improve the phone dramatically.

Having said all that, I still don't think you can beat the iPhone user interface, it's years ahead of anything Microsoft have ever done :)

Thanks for the feedback. I called Orange today to try to wangle an Omnia on a cheaper tariff, but they said they're having real trouble getting hold of them from Samsung so have withdrawn it (although it's still on the website).

The TyTn II is definitely gone too, so I ended up getting an HTC Diamond instead. Managed to knock them down to 40 quid for the phone whilst also going from £35pm to £20pm. I'll have to see when the Diamond arrives if I'll use that or just carry on with my SPV.

orange aren't touching the X1 only t-mobile are having at present, the tytn II has been out for ages, the diamond or the omina are the latest one, and out of the two the diamond is much better (software wise) than the samsung

Was in Orange Store today and they definately had the TYTN II.

Am due an Upgrade from them at Christmas and have also been looking at the Omnia, although there is a HTC Diamond Pro? out soon... ? And a new Sony Ericsson with an 8 Megapixel Camera.

Another option is an Unlocked iPhone. :D

Vodafone are currently the only providers to have the Touch Pro (the diamond with a keyboard, more memory, and a few more features). T-mobile are dithering about when it's coming out.

Orange may well not release it at all and instead carry the Sony X1 which is actually made by HTC and based on the Touch Pro (but has a bigger screen, worse keyboard).
