anyone use these guys or similar to insure their gear.
I was quoted £30 for a years worldwide cover with no excess which seemed reasonable as I am sure I will get mugged at least once :help:
(£800 worth of gear)

With insurance companies though I don't mind paying a little extra for a good service especially as I will be permanently abroad and unable to argue with them

Oh and if you do have stuff stolen, do you have to provide a police report because I have heard bad things about the police in some S. American countries and probably wouldn't risk making a report.

EDIT: Ahhhh I knew the search button was there for a reason. feeling a bit slow today

Are you sure its £30 for a year's cover? I just entered £800, which pops up as £30, but for UK only. Change it for worldwide and it jumps to £52.
I used to use Photoguard, back when I was renting, and my premiums were reaching £300 per year (talking about £5k of equipment, worldwide with in car cover).
Adding them to my buildings and content insurance, cost about £40, with accidental cover - ok there's is an excess which photoguard doesn't, but the costs are ridiculous if you don't need proffessional indemnity.

See how much it costs to add to your home insurance.

I'm with them, have claimed on my policy twice, they were helpful and courteous both times. My premiums aren't what you'd call bargain-tastic though.

I use photoguard too, for the public liability as much as the gear insurance. They do 30days worldwide which is handy for holidays abroad.
