Strange goings on, on some of my contacts when I go to send a text message, it comes up with their number twice - once as the number, and once as the +44... bit. Others don't - I can't figure out why.

Also in the Contacts bit for each contact, it has the number, their name with a little person symbol and a pacman type thing on the far right, then others also have their name with what can only be described as a little bowtie - no other information associated with it. Just deleted it from one contact, doesn't seem to have made a difference.

Anyone have any clues on what/why is this?

The bowtie icon is one of the categories of information you can add to a contact, Formal Name, so unless you wish to use this for anything yourself you can delete with no problem. The little pacman icon indicates the voice tag associated to the contact for voice dialling (this is created automatically based on the contact name).

Not sure why you'd have some numbers listed twice, did you import your contacts from elsewhere? This may also explain the addition of Formal Name tag. Could it be that you have some contacts stored on the SIM and are viewing both Phone and SIM contacts at the same time? The SIM entries will have a little icon up at the top of the screen by the clock.
