I must be getting old, this is too much at this time of the day....9:45am and i've just had to put up with 4 Nine Inch Nails tracks (and rising, left the room) from the newly arrived live DVD, the missus insists on giving it a look before she has to go to work....already she's discovered (she'll have picked it off the net somewhere) a egg (Trent Reznor :D ) somewhere during the song 'Starf***ers Inc.' when they go into 'You're So Vain' if you press ENTER during this point (somewhere) it goes to another version of the song with Marilyn Manson on stage with 'em then they perform 'Beautiful People'.
Also the "plastic strip" is supposed to uncover some hidden contents in the packaging....anyone found any, i couldn't!?!?!?!?
No idea about the hidden extras, but which version you got? DD5.1 or DTS? What's the sound like? I have the 5.1 but thinking of replacing with DTS but not sure if it's really worth the hassle! :)

Hey, there's nowt wrong with NIN at any time of the day or night ;)
Still waiting for my DD version to arrive. Although as soon as I ordered it I thought "I should have gone for the DTS one" Argh!

We got the DTS version, and from what i heard it did sound pretty darn good, just blasted out "Head Like A Hole" and it sounded fantastic!

Hmm, anyone have the DD one and tell me if that is good?
Oh, I'll probably just get the DTS one and sell me other though.
what audio cd's of NIN are a must? I keep on intending to sample some of their stuff..

The Downward Spiral... The most commercial, I know, but if you don't like this, you'll hate the other stuff...
EDIT: My girlfriend reckons Pretty Hate Machine (but I don't honestly agree...) :)

Silent Bob where did you order your DTS version from?
Damage Inc

Also i'd say The Fragile is the most commercial. Although 'Closer' must be there biggest selling single.
Must say i love Broken, but then again i must agree with soberion ("Hey, there's nowt wrong with NIN at any time of the day or night ")- love all NIN stuf...
Still waiting for the R2 edition (DD or DTS...er... please DTS...Pls...) - can't play R1 titles... yet
:(
cheers

I ordered mine from ********* m8.
Not a great fan of NIN myself, it's the missus, however if i had to choose one of there CDs i'd go for 'Pretty Hate Machine' myself...recall seeing them on there first UK appearance around the time of 'PHM' supporting Guns N' Roses @ Wembley Stadium, it was a case of what the ****** was that....nobody was ready for 'em, including me.

Well, I would rate Pretty Hate Machine as the most accessable album for a newcomer. Even though it's the first album, manages to stay fresh sounding 10 years on. (Infact, I've got it with me in the office today, think I'll stick it on).
Broken is also good, if short. The music starts getting more angst and experimental here.
The Downward Spiral is a very dark album, written when Trent was in a Very Bad Place, and as such is both some of his best work yet most difficult to listen too. Not one to recommend to a depressive
Kind of finally, is The Fragile. A double CD, this contains a lot more mellow sounding NIN. Many fans accused him of selling out with this and going soft, but if you listen to the lyrics, they are just as twisted as ever. This album has the most divided opinion about it. Personally I love it.
Avoid the remix albums for now, Fixed, Further down the Spiral and Things Falling Apart. More for die-hard NIN fans.
So, I'd say start off with PHM and Broken. And Fragile. And Downward Spiral. Oops, not much help really.:brickwall

'Pretty Hate Machine' for sure. Even after all these years every single song is still great.
'The Fragile'(2CD) is also very good.
Get both of them:D
OK! thanks for the suggestions, i'm gonna go with PHM to start with.

No - I agree with you
PHM always reminds me of earlier Depeche Mode for some reason.
Broken onwards is the way to go (at least - that's how I got into them).
As an aside, I saw a very interesting 'act' in the Tunnel nightclub in New York (the one in the American Psycho book). It was done to the tune of NIN's Piggy and involved Pasta, a plastic sheet and a young woman with poor bladder control
The response from the (mostly young, clubby type) audience was "eurgh!", when she got to the finale
turning to the DVD, I got my DTS version yesterday and just bunged it on to have a look - OMG! HOW LOUD IS THAT!!!
My levels are have been the same for a while now and I normally play DTS films at -35 but the music starts on this one and is quite loud at -50!

not sure if this is the correct forum, but.......
there is a DVD-Audio version of downward spiral coming out acording to the NIN website (plus a SACD hybrid 2 disc set)
anyone find anywhere over here or over there thats listing the DVD-A? (I know most places have got the SACD Hybrid CD listed, but my player only does DVD-A)
Moving to Music & DVD Forum
Oooh, thanks for the heads up on the SACD of The Downward Spiral. Just done a quick search on the DVD-A and came up with www.dvd4music.com (http://www.dvd4music.com/cgi-bin/onlineshop?request=details&bytes=109170&ref=002897&file=5) at £16.95 (plus if any delivery costs).
Now, do I buy both.....

My thoughts exactly.
Being the Ultimate NIN collector I guess I should. :dork:
I've already got the SACD on order (doubling my SACD collection), but the DVD-A is a new one me.
Assuming it will have pictures, videos etc (stuff you don't normally get on SACD) I'll probably have to own this as well....
TM
Edit, just checked and it does have videos (which I've already got. ) and some other stuff.... Looks like this could be expensive. :help:

The DVD-A is only worth it for the 5.1 - any decent extra supplements should be included on the enhanced dvd set of Closure (which has been delayed for a bit but should hopefully be out early 2005).
Personally, I'm not bothering with the new DS's: the demos/extra songs etc have been knocking around for years - they're an attempt by the Trez to generate some quick income to get him through his current "woes".
Had the DTS version of the LIVE DVD for around 2 years now, thought hidden menu of extras was common knowledge. I dont think the plastic strip actually unlocks anything..... Love NIN and cant wait for the Deluxe Downward Spiral, an album that means a great deal to me.
Play.com now have the two (hybrid) disc SACD release for the princely sum of £9.99 delivered. Time to cancel my Amazon order.
Link: Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral (Deluxe Edition) (2 Hybrid Discs) (http://tracker.tradedoubler.com/click?p=20047&a=60823&g=606309&url=http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=SACD&title=552095)
Haven't found anywhere else stocking the CD/DVD copy for a reasonable price.

Yup, I'm still waiting as well... Early next year iirc.
Still these new Downward spirals are just the thing for me.

Looks like the new DS will be a purchase. I love the album and anything with extra NIN material gets my attention quickly :)
Does anyone know the reason why Closure got put back until next spring? I thought it was due for release sometime in November/December.

26-11-2004, 19:11
Delayed for rights reasons.
The "extra" stuff on TDS deluxe has all been available eslewhere: the only reason to buy it is for SACD or 5.1 audio, which I'm not bothered about, tbh.

27-11-2004, 17:45
WOW! Just listened to the 5.1 DD mix of The Downward Spiral, and it's awesome... It's not just the usual "everything through all the speakers" kind of 5.1 mix, but after listening to it, you realise that a lot of work must gone into it. I found myself thinking "Wow. I've never heard that before", but this 5.1 mix makes you realise how "layered" the whole album was / is. If you've got a 5.1 set-up, and you like NIN, then you got to get this DualDisc release.
anephric
27-11-2004, 17:50
Hmph. Stop tempting me. I've convinced myself it's non-essential.
I can already hear how layered TDS is. Trez is a techie geek, after all... I have muso friends that *hate* his whole sub-goth, "middle-aged multimillionaire but still feel my angst" gubbins but buy NiN albums for his innovation (well, innovation derived from more left-field artists) and production "skillz"...
Ooh, may have to order the Dualdisc off Amazon.com along with one of those Philips HeartStart Home Defibrillators, 'cos hey, it's another gadget! ;)
My Dualdisc has been despatched from Amazon.com for a shade over £10. Just in time for Christmas.
soberion
16-02-2005, 13:39
So, just to confirm before I plunge. The DualDisc DVD-a version does have a 5.1 DD sound mix for conventional DVD players in addition to the DVD-A only mix?
Just having a look at my copy for you.
On the DVD-A side it reads:
surround playlist
stereo playlist
videos
body of work
My Pio 656a is only linked by scart to my TV at the moment and I'm getting sound identical on stereo and the surround. I have enabled my DVD player to convert 5.1 to 2 channel, otherwise my TV only gets the rear channels. So the answer to your question is yes.
Some strange images with the DVD-A side (decaying materials).
Now where's my SACD, Play?
I've just ordered the SACD version from Play, but I'm a bit of a novice where the whole DVD-A SACD thing goes. Will it play on a standard DVD in 5.1? Or do I want the DVD-A version for that?
Edit: from reading the comments on Amazon, it sounds like the SACD is still worth getting. I might even have to get me an SACD player...
Fat Man Hackett
16-02-2005, 14:54
The SACD version will play in 5.1 when played on a SACD player linked up to a DD5.1 amp. The DVD-A version will play on a DVD-Audio player in 5.1 when connected to a DD5.1 amp. The DVD Video version plays in 5.1 on any normal DVD player when connected to a DD5.1 amp...

Apparently not. It's easy (and cheap) enough to order from amazon.com (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump.php?url=http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/thedvdforums-20)... not sure if the original DVD-A release was a 'dualdisc' though...
Btw, great customer review on Amazon UK:
"This is an awesomes album. Hard to beleive it came out 11 years old, it sounds so future. Ruiner is the best song, it has church organs, BIG drums, and some nice lyrics.
The remastreering is too good, it sounds very different, it sounds, and feels, bigger, better and harder. The way it should to be. Heresy is also nice, even if he does cristice religion, but thats straight razor for!
The spiral downwards is also very romantic. If you play it for your girlfriend, espcecially on the title tracks, she will love it! But of course many girls like nine ich niles, they are that sort of bands. And hurts is a very sad songs, you feel that from this, straight razors wants to die. But this is not necessare as he is much taletnted musicisans."

2 songs from the new album have leaked. The hand that feeds sounds amazing.
One of the songs has been getting radio play in the states, so thats why it has found its way on the net. In the case of the other song - i wonder if it was an official leak by the record company to get some publicity or was it a genuine case of someone stealing the tracks and putting them on the web?
Most bands these days seem to have tracks 'leaked' before release.
anephric
22-02-2005, 18:28
Heard 'em. Not very impressed. Very conventional. Very "rawk".
EDIT: actually, The Hand that Feeds is pretty damn catchy and pretty darn poppy... it's a shame Reznor never did more stuff in the vein of The Perfect Drug because that 'industrial pop' sound was one of his creative acmes (apparently he did some work and scrapped it, the resultant change in direction becoming The Fragile)...

I clicked on the link - they already show as 'Sold Out' - is that right, or is it just because they're not available yet?
EDIT: Doh! The link above takes me to the previously announced dates, which are of course already sold out. Mumbles, is that the right link, please? (I didn't get an email about it either :( )
Those are the links they sent.
According to the e-mail they are only good for 24 hours from 4pm, though I suspect they only be good for a few minutes seeing the demand.
Just as long as I get mine :)
Planning on leaving work early (I usually finish at 3pm) so I can get home in time to press refresh several hundred times.

Edit: 21:27 and tickets still available for the second London and Manc dates...
Edit 2: Does anyone know what the Trent / NIN situation is regarding soundchecks? As long as the soundcheck is not "closed" (as was for A Perfect Circle), I should be able to get in...

I won't shout at you but can you pass on the message that people on the DVD forums think is is a touting scumbag.
If he bought tickets and then couldn;t make it then fair enough but he clearly bought them just to rip someone else off.
I told him the same thing! - I also refused to try and sell them, but he swayed me with 'how's 10% sound?' - everyone has their price! ;)
Gee guys thanks
I managed 2 for Brixton (after being timed out 6 times!)
So I guess I'll be seeing you all sometime in July (I think the first time I saw them was on the 4th of July as well)

Anyone got their tickets delivered for the Astoria gig? Looking at the tracking link from the original confirmation email, it says they've been despatched by Special Delivery and I've got a 'missed delivery' note from Special Mail Servicies. I'm wondering if these are connected...?

Yup, they'll be the delivery company. I've got my first set last week & have just arranged my second set for tomorrow.
Curiously though, you have to have ID & make the arrangements via their website or their phone line. They're not available for a pick-up.

This had better not happen with Ticketmaster for the Barrowland gig because I bought 7 tickets all for me and my friends!
Quite a good plan for all those toutin scumbags who bought 12 each....they should have a limit for something that in-demand.

Any help would be VERY appreciated!
Cheers.
I've just checked nin.com and it says there that the B'ham tickets aren't on sale until Saturday at 4pm. Furthermore there's a phone number provided, which i don't remember seeing previously. Yet if you go to the Academy website, it states that the tickets are on sale from Wednesday 4pm.

It's not really NINish so I was a bit disappointed. Been a bit disappointed by all the new tracks I've heard, tbh. They're okay etc and very pop-rock, but not really what I was expected after all the Reznor hyperbole of this album being "brutal" and blowing the speakers in the studio etc.
It patently isn't "brutal". :|

It patently isn't "brutal". :|NIN stuff never really stands alone though, it needs to be heard in the context of the album. Take Star****ers Inc., not a particularly stand out track (for me at least), and certainly not at all indicative of The Fragile as a whole, but the one most non-NIN fans will know.
I'm not worrying yet, The Hand That Feeds is a damn good track by anyone else's standards, it's just that Trent has a lot to live up to!
Just got another e-mail from NIN. They are arranging for listening parties around the US in the next few months to hear the entire album and pre-order it.Whoever attends will recieve a ltd edition 7" vinyl with "The hand that feeds" and non-album track "Home".
The release date for "With Teeth" is 05-03-05 (or 3rd May for everyone else in the world who know how calendars work).
Checking the NIN site it appears that we get the single "The Hand that Feeds" (Halo18) on 18th April , and that the UK has an exclusive DVD single and a ltd edition 4 track digipack(Available for 2 weeks only) as well as the usual 2 track single and a 9" vinyl. It will not be released in the US.
EDIT. Amazon UK has the album up for pre-order

Just for those that are interested NIN have a big article in Kerrang this week
anyone go to the Astoria last night?
What an amazing set - so much energy! Shame that we had no encore, though! I wonder if there was one on Weds night!? Anyone?
Did they play any off the new album?
B! < jealous again >
They certainly did - I heard the Hand That Feeds for the 1st time and loved it - They played The Line Begins to Blur and a couple of other new tracks.
Ended with Head Like a Hole - SO MUCH energy in the set, well worth the wait!
They came on at 8.15pm and were off by 9.50pm as there was a 10pm curfew for gay night at the Astoria - that we knew nothing about.
Apparently Weds was an 11pm curfew with an encore. Dammit!

No encores on either night, comparatively short sets to.
Kicking out at 10ish both nights.
More new songs on Wednesday (7 or 8 I think), but Thursdays gig was more coherent.
Full set lists can be found within the forums at www.echoingthesound.org (http://www.echoingthesound.org/)
Personally I felt Wednesdays performance was somewhat lacking (all those new songs didn't help), they gained & lost momentum so many times. Thursday's show was much smoother & better for the fans, although there were still some ommissions (only 2 Hate Machine songs per night, WTF).
Worth it? Hell yes,
Worth it for £100+ a ticket? Maybe not...
The July shows have got a lot to live up to...

No encores on either night, comparatively short sets to.
Kicking out at 10ish both nights.
Short sets? You joking? Both sets were at least an hour and half - i think the 2nd night was more like an hour 40. There wasnt an encore, but by not doing the whole 'wal off stage for five minutes ans then come back out' just means they have time for an extra song or two.
10 - 10.30 pm for both nights was an early finish, but i though being able to make the pub for last orders after a gig was pretty fantastic.
Overal two great gigs, superb mix of new an classic songs. Would agree with the majority Thursday was marginally better.
Standout tracks were the new single, and the reworking of closer, as well as the line begins to blur, which is gonna be one of the best hits of he new album. People have been puttingnhigh quality downloads of the first few gigs on the netfor d/l, so i hope the Astoria gig also made there way ont othe usual sites for d/l.
Thats cool. The Dresden Dolls are very very good. Be interested to see them in a big venue. You should go and pick up their last album.
I saw the Dolls at Edinburgh Venue in February - they were phenomenal (best gig I've been to in a long time) but I really felt they were suited to an intimate, sweaty little room like that - not sure how well it would communicate in a shed!
That said, I really hope they're the support for NIN in the summer. And their album's superb - but not as good as the live band.
Heads up - NIN are (strangely) on CD:UK next week (was filmed yesterday). Seems a bit odd to me - surely the typical 12 year old girl that watches CD;UK is not gonna be interested in hearing NIN.
Wish the show was live, and at the last minute they decided to p;ay closer instead of hand that feeds - similar to what metallica did at the MTV awards a few years back.....
A mate told me that a friend of his (who I don't know) had an extra ticket for Thursday at Face value. When my mate said he couldn't make it (plus he's not that much of a fan - yet) he said that I'd be up for it to be told that the offer was only good for him and that as this chap didn't know me there was no way he was going to sell me a ticket for what he paid for it.
To compound it all my mate is making his way home on Thursday night and passes the Astoria only to be stopped by some of the touts who know him and would have let him have tickets at close to face value.
Luckily he told me all this on Friday.

HMV have a competition for signed album artwork here (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump.php?url=http://clkuk.tradedoubler.com/click^QS^p=18710^QA^a=60823^QA^g=280345^QA^url=http://www1.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/navigate.do^QS^ctx=1000;-1;-1;-1^QA^pPageID=1287)

anyone else got the dualdisc DVD-Audio from amazon.com of 'Downward Spiral' ?
I can't get the dvd-audio to come out in surround. It only seems to be in stereo from my amp. The little logo's for all 6 channels light up on my dvd player, but it only comes out of 2 of my speakers. I know i'm prob doing something wrong :(
When i play my Verspetine DVD-Audio from Bjork, that does full surround fine, so i know it can work.
Any ideas?????

Have you definitely selected the surround sound version? There's also a stereo version that it plays by default. You have to go out to the main menu and select it from there.
The album has now been leaked and available to d/l from the usual places.
Sounds brilliant on first listen - this is gonna be an absoloute classic!

I've listened to it about 5 times now and it keeps getting better, picking a single track is difficult, but I'm loving the opener, "All The Love In The World".
I concur with the previous posters - the album is brilliant. Indeed "All The Love In The World" is fantastic, but my favourites are "Every Day Is Exactly The Same" and "Beside You In Time". As a side note, does anyone know where to get the deluxe 2 disk version of "With Teeth", as mentioned on the NIN website (it has a DVD Audio/DVD disk as the second disk). Play, CDWOW and Amazon just have the single cd version listed.
Is there a definitive edition of this album to look out for?
DVD-A, SACD, DVD ??
I know the Japanese version has extra tracks including HOME and 2 remixes but no mention of a second disc for them.
I am holding out until I can find the definitive version. UK version seems very standard!
If ya check the NIN website, there's definitely a mention of a dual disk version. The second disk will play in DVD and DVD Audio players and has 5.1 Surround mixes (plus some other stuff). Just need somewhere to buy it from now!

I hope the DVD-A is released here - it's the best album I have heard this year.

I've ordered my Dualdisk version from Amazon.com. It's not strictly two discs - it's a double sided disc that has the DVD-A and DVD-Video on one side, and the CD on the other side...
I've heard somewhere that the Dualdisk version is a US exclusive, and that an SACD version MAY be released at some point over the summer in the UK / Europe.
Yeah, i'll second that, i think on the NIN site they have so far said the dual disc is going to be USA only - no one else gets the 5.1 mix.
So i'll be ordering from the USA then too............

According to the access section on NIN.com Mr Reznor is , er, sick of extras on cd's, as`far as he's concerned the CD is definitive, the dual disc has the surround mix and the video for the hand that feeds and that should be enough for anyone wanting more. So the differences in the Japanese version are interesting.
The amazon link I posted a few pages back (the expensive one) appears to have been for the Japanese version, but last I checked it was no longer available.
For more exciting answers (including who the lighting Tech on the tour will be) go here http://www.nin.com/access/index.html
People with Macs (and Garageband) can download the latest single in Garageband format for free off NIN.com. I've not got the latest release of garageband with my mac mini but it seemed to work, once I'd said OK to 30 error messages. Its great fun to play with.
No way !!!!
/heads off to nin.com
Thanks for the heads up ixi :)
EDIT: Works perfectly with Garageband 1.0.
It's utterly fantastic. Kudos to Trent for making this available and for free. It's excellent being able to listen to certain parts of the song, take bits out, shuffle things up.
From the 'Read Me' file:
Hello all-
For quite some time I've been interested in the idea of allowing you the ability to tinker around with my tracks - to create remixes, experiment, embellish or destroy what's there. I tried a few years ago to do this in shockwave with very limited results.
After spending some quality time sitting in hotel rooms on a press tour, it dawned on me that the technology now exists and is already in the hands of some of you. I got to work experimenting and came up with something I think you'll enjoy.
What I'm giving you in this file is the actual multi-track audio session for "the hand that feeds" in GarageBand format. This is the entire thing bounced over from the actual Pro Tools session we recorded it into. I imported and converted the tracks into AppleLoop format so the size would be reasonable and the tempo flexible.
So...
You need a Macintosh and you need GarageBand 2.0. If you have a newer Mac, you already have the software. The more RAM you have the better. I did this on a PowerBook 1.67 w/ 2G RAM but it has been running on far less powerful systems.
Drag the file over to your hard disk and double click it. Hit the space bar. Listen.
Change the tempo. Add new loops. Chop up the vocals. Turn me into a woman. Replay the guitar. Anything you'd like.
I gave this to my crew and band to test out and all work effectively stopped for a while - it's fun to mess around with. I've now heard a country version of the track as well as an abstract Latin interpretation (thanks, Leo).
There are some copyright issues involved, so read the notice that pops up. Giving this away is an experiment. I'm interested to see what comes of it, what issues are raised and what the results are.
Have fun-
Trent Reznor

The Japanese CD was meant to include the DVD - it was a 2 disc set that I had preordered and it has now been cancelled as they have opted for a single disc but with extra tracks.
"home" is on a VERY rare new free USA 7", the Japanese CD and the worldwide vinyl release of the album.
Still can't decide which version to go for! I reckon the US one and hope that the track Home is on a future single here in the UK!
Just got another e-mail from NIN.com. You can pre-order the dualdisc, a hand that feeds T-shirt and a 10 inch hand that feeds picture disc with Home as the b-side. $41. But "international orders are not allowed". There are other combinations or cd/t-shirt/ picture disc as well.
The listing for the dual disc lists the additional content, as well as the 5.1 remix and the music video there is also the option for images during the dvd-audio playback and "Body of Work section with selected audio and video clips from NIN's entire catalog".
At least HMV shipped my combo of the single yesterday.

I'm gutted I can't order the t-shirt/picture disc bundle.
Boo, America. Think I'll go for the Yank version of the album, tho. Not really bothered about extras - I'd rather Reznor got the rights issues sorted for Closure on dvd.

home is on the UK edition as a bonus track?
Stu
nice work stuee! Think I will go for the UK release now, curious though as the version at HMV.co.uk is missing the 2 bonus tracks!
Amazon (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump.php?url=http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0008E0DHS/thedvdforums-21) lists the additional tracks as well.

I have tried this all again this evening - I forgot i also had a DVD-Audio of the soundtrack to A.I. - this also plays in perfect surround.
But no matter what i do, NIN and Medulla (bjork) only come out in stereo.
When i tried NIN in both stereo and surround modes, the stereo version was slightly louder and actually sounded like stereo. The surround one sounded like it was playing 2 channels which were part of a set of 6, but not the others, do you know what i mean? bits of the track sounded missing.
The same was for Medulla.
Now i might think i was unlucky with one disc being badly coded or something, but not 2!!! (unless i'm damn unlucky)
I've checked both the manual for the amp and the dvd player, both basically say put the amp in EXT mode and off it goes!
And i can't see either the amp or dvdplayer have a problem if they play 2 dvd-audio discs fine.
The only thing i can think of is the 2 that don't work, are more recent.
I don't know, I'm pretty depressed about the whole thing. I can't tell you how much i was looking forward to hearing the downward spiral in surround :(:(
(on top of this, i also have gone for the US Dualdisc of 'With Teeth' but i'm worried it'll be a wasted purchase if i only get stereo again)

Any pointers to the dualdisc of With Teeth for less than £loadsofmoney?
Cheapest I've found is £16.

Don't know where you're based mate but HMV Lakeside in Thurrock have some.
I'm confused, I saw on the official site that With Teeth is getting a dual disc release, but I'm sure I read earlier that it was getting an SACD release aswell. Anyone know whether it's being released on both?
I've just placed an order for the dualdisc at www.Amazon.com, total price including delivery is $21.97 (£11.52).

I'm not sure - but does the AI disc only have a surround mix ?
I know that my player has a default setting for SACD (CD,2 channel SACD,5.1 channel SACD) and I think there's a similar setting for DVDA (i'll check tonight)

Hmmm... I'd love to go for the dualdisc, but the recent Downward Spiral release wouldn't actually play in my CD players - something to do with the thickness, presumably.
No big deal at home (will listen through the surround system, obviously) but a problem when you spend a couple of hours in the car each day too :(
I went to the sorting office today to collect what I thought was the single combo, but it was the ltd vinyl box
Unfortunately despite coming by today at 10am the postman left a card telling me that the packet that's too big for my letterbox (single combo I presume) and that I have to wait 24hrs until I can collect it, which barring a miracle at work means I know have to wait until the weekend to put anything in the box (sort office hours 8am-1pm, working hours 6am-3pm).
mumbles - I got one of the 9" vinyl boxes too :D
Houses the 9" nicely, look forward to the next singles on 9"!
Got one too !! Bonus.
Now to decide whether to buy the 9" or not for collectors value, hmm.
Listening to the album, not sure what other tracks are due to be released. Anyone know ?
