I have BTV with no sub ... sounds awfully tempting to go for one of the packs now ...
I only got the new black hub a couple of months back to replace my white original, and they're updating again! Would be more bothered if I hadn't been using an Apple Extreme 'n' standard router for nearly 18 months already!
Sounds good, but what channels do you actuall get?
Can you get Disney, Nick etc in the kids pack?
Can you get Sky1 at all?
Also this is not quite correct, or is it?:
**BT Vision
Entertainment package (Bronze Pack = £14) + Free Setanta Sports = £14 / month
Sky
Entertainment package (1 mix = £16) + Setanta Sports (£12.99) = £28.99 / month. Sky includes additional content. Sky+ box costs £150.
Virgin Media
XL TV Pack (£19.50) + Free Setanta Sports = £19.50 / month. Virgin’s box costs £150
Dont you also have to have BT broadband for the BT vision box to work?
If so this looks like £4.95 per month for the first three months then £15.99 thereafter. So to get the 'free' Senanta Sports you have to add another £15.99 for broadband on top of that, or have I got that wrong?
Still hopefully Sky & Virgin will take a long look at this 7 maybe bring there sports costs down?

The BT Vision VOD contnet doesn't show 'Channels' but selections of prgramming from various channels - so the Kids packs includes series and shows which are shown on the likes of Nick Jnr, Cartoon Network, etc, but not those actual channels - and they are viewed per episode.
Same with all other content on VOD - its individual episodes, series, films, music videos, sports events/matches - not full channels. Therefore, no there is no Sky One on BT Vision.

I agree, that is a bit misleading as they are simply comparing viewing package costs, yet as you say, the BT Vision system (including Freeview, EPG, PVR functionality and VOD) is entirely dependant on having a BT Broadband account/service - not even any broadband.

One would hope so, but I dont hold my breathe of Sky lowering their costs, as they still have the monopoly.

the setanta channel that's being discussed is not the full setanta channel with live premiership football, that will cost extra.

It is the Full Setanta Channel, that would usually cost £9.99 per month on BT Vision, not the BT Vision Sport which shows near live Premiership highlights, and catch-ups of Setanta matches.
If you subscribe to any of their new top viewing packages Bronze (£14/mnth), Silver (£18/mnth) or Gold (£20/mnth), you get the Setanta Sport channel for free - you have to pay the initial £10 for the viewing card, but after that, the monthly sub for Setanta is free as long as you keep one of the viewing packages above.
If you cancel the veiwing packages and wish to keep Setanta, then you will begin to be charged £9.99 per month for that.
