ANYONE:nuts:
Where did you see the Pioneer A-03 for £350?
Wait until March/April, I hear Pioneer are releasing the Pioneer A-04 which i heard does 4x burning.
Ricoh are releasing a DVD+R soon too! Which works on stand-alone dvd players too. Not sure how much!
Once the 4x burners come out, the 2x will go down well cheap!

Here's (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=31420) the link for the a03
Thanks,
However, thats the cheapest I've seen it! Its coming down £10 a week now! Phoned Pioneer today, the A-03 will have either 3x or 4x burning. Hopefully will be in the retail of £400. The A-03 should hopefully drop a lot then :-)

Does this mean that the A03 doesn't work on regular dvd players?

Discs burned by the A-03 are in the DVD-R standard and "do" work on most DVD Players
There's two main standards the - standard (DVD-R and DVD-RW) and the + Standard (DVD+RW and now newly announced DVD+R).
Though the discs burned in both formats are compatible with all DVD Players, the blank discs of DVD-R and DVD+R are not compatible with each other.
Its strange, not many people know whats going on at the moment. Though its said that the technical guidelines of both DVD+R and DVD-R are very similar to each other.
DVD-R is accepted by the DVD Forum as being compliant to the DVD Standard, where as DVD+R is not.
Cheers :)
I see they're down to £350 all in at www.121cdr.co.uk as well now

At the moment I am buying £1.99 blank DVD discs with cases but they only write at 1X. Remember buying the 4X writer will be a better buy but your 4X blank discs may cost pounds more than the £1.99 ones at http://www.121cdr.co.uk/

How much time does it take to burn 4.7 Gig at 1X ?????
Stu
Just found out the Pioneer A-04 is just gonna be an updated A-03 with faster reading and a few other improvements. I've heard its still 2x burning.
4x burners won't be out until May/June!
However, the A-04 will actually retail much cheaper than the A-03. I've heard you'll be able to get it as cheap as £300!
1x takes 60 minutes to burn a DVD. 2x, 30 mins and so on. 4x burners, wow 15mins for a DVD :D
same burner here too... http://www.lynxdv.com
