For pre-order they are normally fine, and things get dispatched on the day of release. They are pretty bad with things that are already out as these can take them weeks to send.

They also charge you card as soon as you place the order regardless of when the film is sent, they even do this for pre-orders.

How does it work if you pay by credit card, they charge you immediately (when the item is only released in say 2 months) and then you run into problems 2.5-3 months after the initial charge on the card?

I mean - does your credit card still cover you against problems like this?

If you haven't received your goods then yes, you are protected. Just a lot of hassle involved!

They have AI as preorder for just under £12 (delivered), but if they charge my CC straight away and it's not released until mid-March, it seems a tad risky if they screw up.

I found them to be a bit of a pain. I pre-ordered Buckeroo Banzai from them, and when it was released earlier this month, they claimed it hadn't been released yet, and then stopped answering my questions on the messaging system that they have. Called them up and cancelled the order in the end, as I'd sent them 3 messages over a week with no response. I don't mind if a retailer gets things wrong, as long as they keep me informed as to what's going on. DVDimport didn't.

Thanks for that info. I'm not a fan of bad customer service.

I've ordered about 5 times with them, all of which arrived in aout a week. However, I currently have had Clerks on order for over a week and have heard nothing (I assume its not in-stock, but unfortunately there is no mention of this on their site :().

I was thinking of pre-ordering through them, so I might wait until closer to the DVD release date before making my pre-order.

Thanks for all the info. Much appreciated.

Cheers

Does anyone knopw if they are Customs friendly?

I mean do they post from within Europe (like DVDBoxOffice)?

My order was sent through the normal Canada post system.

You might want to consider www.dvdboxoffice.com , they have the same problem regarding delivery time, but they only charge your card when the discs are sent.

I think www.absound.ca are quite good, fairly cheap but good delivery times and customer service.

The reason that I asked was because A&B do seem to incur customs charges regularly, and also because DVDBoxOffice are considerably more expensive (for the items I'm after) than DVDImport.

I've had Rebecca CC on order for 10 days without any sign of it being shipped yet despite the fact that my CC was charged within a few hours of the order:(

My girlfriend ordered Apocalypse Now Redux at the start of December, for my Xmas. Nearly 2 months later, we've heard nothing - the order status is still at "Pending" but they charged the credit card straight away.

We've sent loads of emails and used the messaging system on the website but had no reply.

Absolutely shocking service in my opinion... save your money and boycott these clowns!! I'd rather pay a couple of quid more for a guaranteed delivery.

Thanks for the info guys.

Based on this, I think that I'll definitely not be using them.

Life's too short to be wasting time/effort/getting stressed over a company that can't even answer emails. For any e-tailer that is unacceptable behaviour.

Cheers

I ordered 3 movies from them on Sun 20th, sent them an e-mail next day asking when they will be shipped - got a reply within a few hours. Shipped out on Tues 22nd.

This was the first time I had dealt with them - just have to wait & see how long they take to deliver.

I know that some people have had good service from them, but the not answering emails is pretty unfathomable behaviour for an e-tailer who wants to be successful.

Dealt with them a year ago, and judging by the e-mails here they have not improved at all. Debit your Card straight away and then DVDs that should be in stock are not shipped; e-mails go unanswered and I received the two I had ordered almost three months after I had first ordered them. I wouldn't use them again.

I really want to order some stuff from Import, but looks like it will be a pain :( Not enough positive reviews...

I ordered from their back catalogue a few weeks ago. They charged CC immediately, but didn't send the DVD. I tried their messaging system, and got no response. Tried e-mailing and got an auto-reply to say that they don't answer e-mails (!?!?). Eventually phoned them, and the guy sounded annoyed that I should trouble him - he finally agreed to send out on Monday the following week, (which he did to be fair), but it sounded like he was doing me a favour. Didn't speak much English, by the way (French). I will never use them again - I don't care how cheap they are!

Just phoned them myself to chase up my order - the guy has supposedly sorted it now.

Apparently he says the order didn't state what title I was ordering, even though the status page said "Apocalypse Now Redux - Pending"!!

Not sure what system they use but it obviously doesn't work. And why they didn't get in touch with me to resolve the problem I don't know. It has sat at "Pending" for almost 2 months without them doing a thing. Suppose they had my money so that's all they care about!

Aint using them again, that's for sure. Let's hope the disc arrives now!!
