i was a pes fanboy and struggling with fifa/euro help thread [Archive]

hi guys

just got euro 2008 today and it plays real nice but i am struggling with settings and stuff i got stuffed by macadonia 5-0 in a qualifier ffs :shrug:

few probs i am finding is

1. space it all seems so tight

2. through balls seem quite hard see point 1

3. how do you get the players to make decent runs the wide players dont seem to go down the wing and when i do get to the wing for a cross there is no one in the box the front men come back way to deep

4. what are best settings for the passing and stuff manuel,assisted or semi

any other help would be good plus any tips for me and the other pes converts :eek: still makes me shudder when i say i have got fifa :lol:

i had pes for me and the kids liked fifa

i just hated the new pes so traded it in and tried with fifa but it was so slow

then up pops this little gem and the kids wanted it so fifa got traded in and i am trying to get to grips with it :lol:

Can't really offer any tips on this one as:

a) I'm **** at Fifa

and

b) I don't own this version yet anyway :p

Still undecided as to whether I should wait for 09 as this is well dear in the shops...ill probably break soon though as I really liked the demonstration version.

Yeah I need mine though as I play in a league with the guys from work. Could trade in COD4 I suppose as I am well bored with it :eek:

just rang them and they are gonna credit my account for 20 quid as a sorry

I'm shocked at just how poor I am at this game, it's ironic that so many people say this is a great game, having enjoyed Fifa games before and loving the Euro one where you had a story mode this is just beyond me! I can't find any space.. ever, I never feel in control of the players as I'm about to shoot and on the rare time I have scored it's a total fluke, defending wise, what button do you use to tackle, other than sliding tackle? I don't want to press them, I want to nab the ball from them, the guys online I've played seem to be able to take the ball of me, so it's in there somewhere! Defending is pathetic, even with tactics set to team press, the players I'm not in control of just stand there as the opposing teams run by them and scores! oh yeah did I mention this is on the easiest setting!? I used to play other Fifa games on semi pro happily

If this is a 'good' football game, no thankyou, the only saving grace is I rented it

How did you get your players to run forward and into the box ?
No matter what I try when it comes time to cross there is nobody there

i have managed to find the settings in the menu where you can alter your players runs and defensive roles

i just set all 3 to run to goal with defence set to low like pes

also look in the team tactics theres a lot of settings there and most the default ones are set to defend or neutral i just changed it to attack

ill be on tonight duncan so if you fancy a couple of games to mess about with tactics and stuff add my gamertag its same as my username here

not sure why its uploaded te video looking like a pes 3 game lol its looks mush cleaner than that and better gfx i have seen others aswell online which look better i bet i need to change the settings some where

managed to get all the way to the quarter finals from the qualifiers

then in true realism the plank robinson does this on 88 mins and i get knocked out

Heh the AI is a joke, I mean I put my hands up and say I'm rubbish at this game, but having heard how 'realistic' this game is, as a casual football fan at best after spending a couple of hours with it, I was pretty sure it didn't play anything like the real game

i would agree with you on some points there but on the other hand

this is prob the best football game thats been released since pes 6 imo

This is the best footie game released full stop - this is just immense stuff and another step up from FIFA 08 for sure. It just flows superbly at times and whilst there are still bug bears (**** teams can still pass like Arsenal at times), its still a great game.

Please explain how a game where you can't tackle a running player when you are toe to toe with them, & anything more than a light tap of the shoot button regardless of inside or outside the box sends the ball up like a sky rocket resembles anything close to the best footie game released ever!?

I've played footie games before, I'd like to think I know how to work the ball up the pitch and find space to shoot, I've spent a lot of time on this game since friday and whenever I decide to give it 'one more chance' I turn it off in frustration, am I missing something!?

me and john316 have played in all the pes leagues of pes 4 ,5 and 6 and even the dreadful 08 lol and this does seem to flow nice

:shrug: - tried different control schemes? Different settings for short/long passing, shooting and crossing that might suit you better?

I tried it the other week - it hasn't half dated a bit now! :D

I'm a tad bit more hopeful for this year as even Seabass admitted 2008 was a botch job really. Hopefully the upgraded staff numbers can help 'catch up with FIFA' (scary to actually type that!) as they are light years behind on the technical side and lagging behind gameplay wise as well.
