Looking to change my Credit Card so just after advice of which people would suggest.

I'm presently with Morgan Stanley, which is now Goldfish, and is soon to become Barclay Card. I'm not staying with Barclay Card.

Do Nationwide still offer the 0% commission on overseas transactions?

Thanks in advance.

Post Office (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=132) is best bet at the moment, they do not charge comission either and have very good online anit-fraud protection etc.

Looked at this a month or so ago (no bugger'll give me a credit card, but never mind)
For overseas use, Abbey Zero - no foreign exchange charge, no ATM fee. Post Office and Nationwide (Credit, not debit) have ATM fees (perhaps better thought of as cash advance fees).

Double check as it was a few weeks back and I may be remembering wrong.

Hmmm, I need a new credit card, preferably with a decent cashback, as I'm a victim of the Morgan Stanley --> Goldfish --> Barclaycard muck-up that the old post 1 above refers to.

Supposedly Barclaycard have sent me a new card of their own flavour and barred the old Morgan Stanley card that (until Sunday just gone when they barred it) I used 2 or 3 times a day, but I haven't received any new card. I tried calling them and emailing them about it, but they seem to have a useless overseas Call Centre that has no interest whatsoever in the missing card or resending it, so I'm giving up on them already, and need a new credit card.

American Express Platinum Card (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=267) is my choice of cashback card, most places accept it and I just have a Visa for the odd place that doesn't.

Just to pinch this thread a bit keep meaning to look for a card for Balance Transfer. Would this Virgin (http://uk.virginmoney.com/credit-card-v3/) one with 15 months 0% for Balance Transfer be one of the best ones ? It does seem to have a 2.98 % "handling fee". Is this the norm now or are there any left with NO fee but allowing a balance transfer. Would like a longish 12 months+ repayment period. Not too bothered about 0% spend as I wouldnt use teh same card for spending.

Abbey are doing a 'zero' card which is 0% on transfers with no fee. It's probably the last major bank to offer one but it's only 6 months.

Maybe can go for the Abbey card and see what's on offer near the end of the 6 months.

Mind you, I've applied, been accepted, had my pin, but still no sign of the card or credit limit, etc, despite chasing a few times.

I applied to Capital One for a card a few weeks ago, primarily to transfer across the balance from my Virgin card as the interest free period had run out.

Never had a problem before but its like jumping through hoops.

Filled out the online application and they said they would contact me in a week as they had to investigate more. So just over a week later got a letter saying I would have to call them to answer yet more questions. Duly did this and at the end of the conversation they said it would be another week for a decision. Now a week later get another letter asking for copies of my last 3 months bank account and Virgin CC statements!

Tempted to look elsewhere as I'm already going to have to pay a months full interest on the Virgin Card as the process has taken so long!

Seems like they may be trying to clamp down on the card hopping thing now.

They're giving 5% cashback for the first three months. I'm looking at one for an approaching business trip to the US. The cashback easily out-weighs the cost of the exchange rates.

Yeah, I use mine all the time in the US. I get around 900 quid a year cashback at the normal rates, but 5% for the first 3 months is fantastic.

another vote the the amex platinum. currently in the 3 month 5%cashback phase and loving it. the text alerts are quite cool too and free. they send a weekly balance message, a message when the bill is due (you can set this 1 to 8 days ahead) and a message when they receive the payment. All messages are opt in so you dont get spammed.

I've got a RSPCA credit card. Every time you use it, a small percentage is payed to the RSPCA. It's recently changed from being run by Beneficial Bank to MBNA.
