... at HMV:
Pans Labyrinth (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=10&url=http://www.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=280;-1;-1;-1&sku=695610)
I know it's £8.99 at Zavvi (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=311&url=http://www.zavvi.co.uk/-dvd-/799876//p.jsf) but it's in stock at HMV. Besides, Zavvi have appalling customer service so even if their site said it was in stock I wouldn't believe it.
Thanks. Gone for it

Thanks. Gone for it too.
Worth mentioning that the US version is only $18.99 at Amazon:
Pan's Labyrinth (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=25&url=http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000WSLCAC/thedvdforums-20)
That'd work out at about £11 with shipping; the US one has the benefit of a DTS HD Master Audio track

I thought that there was an issue with noise reduction in the US version?
Correct - UK is best version visually without DNR messing about.
I hadn't heard of that but since you mention it, there are two moments when an item (something red, I recall) had noticeable ringing; and the credits also shimmered noticeably, something I've not seen in any other HD title. The rest of it looked good to me - the outdoor scenes in particular at the start were spectacular.

Mine's shipped. :D
Are there lip-sync issues with the R2?
Heads up chaps!
This is a tenner instore too, as is The Host, Mulholland Drive, Wolf Creek, The Pianast etc. (Optimum releases).
Now here is the good bit. They are 3 for 2. Effectively making them 3 for 20 quid.
I got Pan's Labyrinth, The Host and The Pianist tonight for 20 quid :D
Buying The Host made me realise I'd buy anything on HD

Woah. I might have to actually venture inside an HMV to check this out. Although (thinking about it) my nearest one has the crappiest HD section ever. And I've never even seen an HD DVD in there, only Blu-ray. :(
Mulholland Drive (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=10&url=http://www.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=280;-1;-1;-1&sku=618401) and The Pianist (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=10&url=http://www.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=93;13;-1;-1&sku=587197) both also online for £9.99
Edit: Brotherhood of the Wolf (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=10&url=http://www.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=280;-1;-1;-1&sku=618391) also for £9.99!
Let's hope they kick off a 3-for-2...

Unfortunately the 3-for-2 doesn't seem to include the £9.99 disks :(

Read five up. It does instore...
McDonalds have a 'monopoly 2008' promotion going. Bought 3 meals and got 3 money off HMV vouchers.
vouchers are -
£1 off min £8.99 spend
£2 off min £9.99 spend
£3 off min £15.00 spend
£20 off £30 or more
£50 off £70 or more
£70 off £100 or more
My 3 vouchers were £2 off £9.99 spend. They are redeemable instore or when buying online obviously bringing the £9.99 titles down to £7.99
So don't just chuck your rubbish straight in the bin like we nearly did - check the cartons/drinks for the vouchers stuck on them :)

Man, this is such a pain. Did you get them to scan them?
I wonder if I was lucky enough to catch two offers at once, before they got the 3 for 2 stickers off? Or the tenner stickers off?
There was another guy there with his wife and he bought everything I didn't

I picked up a copy of Pan's Labyrinth at the Metrocentre for £10. They had about 5 or 6 more on the shelf.
EDIT: They weren't in the 3 for 2 however ;-)

Ahh bugger :)
Odd. I suspect it was a cock-up then. There was a bit of head scratching when I went to the counter with them.
I'm gonna have to scan the receipt as nobody believes me
FWIW they were 25 quid each in Edinburgh (just got back) and they were 3 for 2 there

The 9.99 ones were all in the 3 for 2 offer in store in the Manchester centre branch at the weekend. They had Pan's Labyrinth, Brotherhood of the Wolf, The Pianist and The Host in stock that I can remember.
My Pan's arrived today
As a matter of interest [or maybe not:D] I see that's it's being screened on Film 4 tonight at 9pm.

From the Isle of Wight Newport branch of HMV I bought:
The Host
Pan's Labyrinth
Wolf Creek
Marked up as £10 with "3 for 2 or as priced" stickers on them (cheapest one free) so I paid £20 :D
They only had a small selection but it was not just the £10 with the 3 for 2 stickers on.

Going to pop along to the oxford street branch at lunch today so will let you know what offers are on there
Even the meager Durham branch had Pan's Labyrinth and The Pianist in today for a tenner each and with '3 for 2 or as priced' stickers on. Only the two titles at a tenner though...

 I was just in there myself and saw the single Pan left, no other under 20 quid I think shame. 3 for £20 is the price I will wait for, no way I will pay 10 or even 9.

Was in the metrocentre again last night, and they had lots more in the 3 for 2, but no Pans Labyrinth anywhere in sight.
But what made me laugh, was this large HD-DVD display, with all of these expensive HD-DVD's, with a central display of "HD Review" magazine. And the headline spashed all over the front of Hd Review magazine??? "HD-DVD IS DEAD".
Nice - made me laugh.
Ok, they should be £10 each, and they should be in the 3 4 2, even if they are not stickered as such they should go though the till correctly. Certainly were fine yesterday. I suspect its just stores not restickering old stock or putting the promo stickers on. However its stock clearance by the distributor so once existing stock has gone from the warehouse wont be able to get any more.
But won't they just manually override the 3 for 2 if they are not stickered?

Unless they're stickered as 3for2 the HMV staff won't honour it.
They put out a small amount of promo 3for2 stuff onto the shop floor. Once sold it's done, they won't honour it on the rest of the discs. HMV have been like that for ages.

Right. It's also worth looking around the nearby shelves as folks stash stuff and return to it later :)
Just been to the MetroCentre today and they only had La Haine in stock for a tenner (but it was stickered 3 for 2)

Sorry but this is rubbish. The tills are set up to take the money off automatically, so if it has the correct barcode on it will take the money off. The staff cant overide it unless the stock doesnt have the right barcode sticker on or no sticker at all. This isnt a campaign like the 3 4 £20 where the stock bought in for the offer is different to the normal stock. The deal runs until it ends or the title is removed not when the stock runs out because more can be ordered. Its the same as the 2 4 £10 running on DVD
If the store doesnt have the discs in stock they should be able to order them at £10, subject to availiabilty as its the distributor clearing stock that has prompted the price drop

Sorry but what you're saying is complete rubbish. Try taking unstickered stock to the counter and see if they give you it when they scan it. You should check the barcodes carefully.
Not rubbish, fact. Do it every day. :D Its a automatic process. If it has the printed barcode labels on the stock, it will take the money off. I can categorically state that on Thurs, Pans Labyrinth was £10 & in the 3 4 2 offer. When the sticker prints out it tells them to put a 3 4 2 promo sticker on. There are 3 reasons it might not work. 1 It doesnt have a white sticker on, as the product barcode itself is different to the barcode for the offer it wont work. 2 One of the items isnt in the 3 4 2 offer but its has the promo sticker on in error, its then up to the store if they honour it. 3 Its an old sticker from prior to the title being in the promotion which has the same effect as no sticker (shouldnt be the case with Pans due to the price drop).

Yes exactly but the point is not all the stock have the promo barcode stickers on them. The ones with that are then stickered with the round white 3for2 label on the front.
If you take an unstickered Pans Labyrinth to the counter it will scan at £10 and not in the 3for2 offer.
HMV have been doing this style of promo thing for ages. They mix up their stock on display, so you get a few bargains chucked in there. It has nothing to do with their supplier.
If you did this every day like you say then you would know ;)

the point is they should all have the relevant barcode sticker on, every single PANS labyrinth HDD in the store is in the promotion but if they havent put the white price sticker on it wont work, so get em to go and put it on or get the right barcode off the system then it will work. Its not like the sale or 3 4 £20 when stock is bought at a lower price and is differentiated from the standard stock. Issues arise when stores dont carry out instructions to resticker the stock. If its in the promotion & got the white price sticker on it the till will take the money off, whatever the staff do. Whatever the promotion is every single bit of stock that can go out will go out and if more can be got it will, believe me, but as with any business not at the cost of profit.
Guess where I do it every day:n0rty:

You clearly don't work in any of the stores around here and I've had this conversation with the managers in each of the stores. No offence intended but I know who knows what they're talking about :brickwall
Now £7.99 at HMV (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=10&url=http://www.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=280;-1;-1;-1&sku=695610)
:( I feel a bit silly payuing £10 for it in store the other day, as I was impatient/worried that my online order wouldn't come through... Oh well!!
It's only £2!
