Is SKY HD, the only option available for receiving an HD signal? My parents own a Sony Bravia, and I've noticed recently that the picture quality is far sharper than it was when they first bought it. I've also noticed this on my own widescreen HD ready tv even though it isn't an LCD or plasma screen.

Yeah a normal Sky box won't do HD.

Remember you will only get HD down a component, VGA or HDMI lead too - NOT a SCART, composite or SVideo lead.

So you need an external box? My parents tv had built in freeview and no sky box, but the picture quality at times is far superior to whats I'd expect from an LCD screen that only receives a digital signal.

My LCD looks absolutely stunning on SD. Don't LCD's 'settle down' over time or something?

You've got an HD Ready TV that isn't LCD or Plasma?

What is it then, Rear projection?

Samsung had a range of HD CRTs out over here a couple of years ago.

Digital cable looks very good on my LCD, as long as you are not sitting right up against the screen and the setting have been changed from the awful factory settings.
