View Full Version : Ps 3 - New Update Today

PS3 alerted me to a new software update today - version 2.17.

But after the update my pet hate has not been changed and the PS3 still refuses to upscale SD material on BD.

The Playstation site still tells of the 2.10 update so I cant find any info about what the new software has done.

Any ideas?

It should have told you before you installed it what the new firmware adds.

Oh well I have an excuse to switch mine on for once :)

There is a thread in the gaming forum detailing the changes (general PS3 thread).

Long and short - mainly stability issues (network games) fixed. Not much really, especially not for people using it mainl as a BR player.

I thought that the upscaling capability came in at about up-date v1.85 or some such. My player does show the option to upscale and does so quite well.

I think he's talking about SD material when on a Blu-ray disc (i.e bonus material)

Hasn't updated the Flash player in the web browser either. Which is what I was hoping for so I wouldn't have to get out of bed to see the latest Zero Punctuation.

Yes I was.

Its annoying that I am having to keep some dvd's just so that I can watch the extras in better quality than on the Bluray disc
