Switch isn't a credit card, it's a debit card - i.e. the money leaves your account immediately, you don't build up an account that must be paid off at a later date. As Switch is a British only thing, you won't find anywhere abroad that can use it (I never seen anywhere anyway), they must be based in the UK with a UK bank account.
If you got yourself a current account with a Visa debit card (Delta) then you can use that anywhere you see the Visa logo, so basically everywhere, and still no chance of any hefty credit bills.

You can also use Switch at:-
www.dvdconcept.com (R1)
www.dc-dvd.com (R1 plus some R2s and R4s)
www.dvdmod.com (R1)
www.bensonsworld.co.uk (R2s)
www.cdwow.com (small selection of R1s but all at £15)

if you get hold of a Visa Electron (A&L, LLoyds TSB) you will find that retailers who accept Visa often accept Electron and this is a lot of retailers!
They may not state on the site but the worst that can happen is that your order doesn't go through

electrons are dodgy, i work for a company that deals with them and theyre subject to declines when theres available funds. stick with switch if i were you. im sure the 'maestro' and 'cirrus' symbols on the card can be used abroad, cos one of the logos means you can take cash out of machines, and the other means that u can pay for goods with your debit card whilst abroad..... just not sure which way round it works :)
not sure

Electrons can be very "dodgy" went to Asda today, went to the petrol station there first, paid with electron, no probs!
went to do the shopping....after spending 10-15 min scanning everything and packing the bags, the card was turned down!
the poor guy behind the checkout had to call the supervisor, who tried, and same thing, then she says "we have cash machines outside, can you not get the money from that?" my replie was yes, but will you knock the £1.50 admin charge of my bill? her replie was "OK" WHAT A VERY NICE LADY
i think the thought of having to put all the shopping back on the shelf, and having to trown "fresh" items in the bin, didn`t appeal
