Myself & a load of mates used to go for one of the days each year. We went for around 8/9 years running but the 2006 year was SOOO busy we stopped. Will have to be a hell of a line-up to persuade us to go back. Not sure this will do the trick but cheers for the heads up anyway

Mr Majestik

Well The Verve might not be.

I've had a camping ticket for months but (for reasons I can't be arsed to go into) am having to sell it. I'm hoping I can get lucky with the touts and pick up a normal weekend ticket tomorrow night. I don't need to camp anyway, as I'm from Chelmsford and my parents still live there.

Well The Verve might not be.

Really? Why not?

Really? Why not?

From Holymoly (and it's been reported elsewhere.)

The Verve's future is yet again thrown into turmoil after a huge bust up on stage at Osakas' Summer Sonic festival which resulted in guitarist Nick McCabe allegedly being sectioned and admitted to hospital. Sources close to band think there is as much chance of them playing this weekend's V Festival as Isaac Hayes.

Audience members told us that Richard Ashcroft smashed his guitar at the end of 'Lucky Man' in frustration at a bad gig. During 'Bittersweet Symphony', McCabe decided to respond by playing a right old racket all the way through causing Ashcroft to leave the stage kicking a guitar stand over on his way (Woooo!).

More guitar throwing ensued and the Japanese fans were subjected to five minutes of McCabe trying to plug his guitar back in before trying to speak Japanese and slumping off stage.

He didn't join the rest of the band on the flight home due to, well, being in hospital suffering from a bad case of 'exhaustion' which medical scientists have translated as "beinginverveitis" throwing this weekend's headline slot at V Festival into serious doubt.

EDGE OF YOUR SEAT UDATE ALERT!
The people with the toughest job in the worl, The Verve's PR company have issued the following statement:

"Contrary to rumours circulating Nick McCabe cut his finger on piece of glass in the dressing room after the gig in Japan," they told NME.COM. "He was treated by medics at the scene and then flew home. He's fine except for sore finger and that won't effect their appearance at V at the weekend."

So a 'cut finger' that was "treated at the scene by medics" forces you to miss the flight that the rest of the band were on does it?
Nick McCabe only arrived back in London tonight and according to souces close to the band, Ashcroft is up for doing V Festival, but "It's down to Nick".

Mind you i'll flip out if i hear the awful single again.

Not a massive fan anyway. Had heard there was still a little tension between the members, but didn't realise the V performance was at stake.

Remarkably, it looks like Winehouse is attending this year.

Of course they'll turn up...there's too much money at stake (and Ashcroft has a reputation for being a bit of a tight-arse ;) )

I might go depending on weather, I only live 35 mins away and my mates girl friend works there which makes things easy.

AKPiggott

I ended up just going on the Saturday and spent most of the day wandering around alone because I couldn't find my mates and my mobile signal was pretty much dead. Only managed to see a rather pathetic four acts. It was all rather disappointing but Muse's fantastic performance helped to make up for it largely. Will be more organised next year.

My first V Festival, and I really enjoyed it. Wanted to see Leon Jean-Marie, but he got replaced by someone else, dunno who, but they were good anyway.

Saw Will Young and Duffy on the first day, then spent the rest of the day making a nuisance of myself in the VIP area called the Louder Lounge. Colleen Rooney - she's a lovely girl with some really classy mates. :| Heaps of other celebs (and has-been celebs too!)

Bryn Christopher played a set in the lounge - really enjoyed that.

Second day saw The Feeling, Girls Aloud, Lenny Kravitz (who rocked!), and then Amy Winehouse, who I thought was just awful.

Yeah I watched Winehouse on the telly (didn't go on the Sunday), what a state. They kept censoring her as well. I spoke to my brother who saw the performance live and apparently she was swearing and spitting all over the place, I wish Channel 4 broadcasted it untampered. Sounded hilarious. The black guys who were backing her were far better performers! They probably had a routine worked out in case she suddenly collapsed dead on stage.

That's right - she did. She had a little coughing fit, then spat a lovely chunk of phelgm on the stage. Classy. Real classy.

Disgusting, but I bet it was quite amusing.

Apparently my brother's mate was relentlessly ripping the **** out of her, so much so that a nearby Winehouse fan took major offense and poured a drink over his head.

I got splashed in the face by an airboune pint during Maximo Park. All part of the fun though.

People don't waste good beer, especially when it's such an effort to get it.
