Just bought a Goodmans GTV66N3 for £199 from Safeways, because it said 28" WIDESCREEN TV on every side.
Got it home, opened it up, and guess what
Goodmans ? YES
28" YES
Widescreen ? Not a @{!"$"%$£%$£$ chance !
It's an ordinary 4:3 with a 16:9 setting
It's going back tomorrow fast enough to melt it into a puddle of silver plastic and glass
Not a bargain, so I guess this will be moving soon....
Still, 4:3 tellys are better than 16:9 widescreen ones any day.... :p
Moving to Supplier Forum as it, well it aint a bargain is it :p

You won't get your money back if you've melted it.
Seriously, couldn't you guess from the fact the box wasn't widescreen shaped to see this? I know Safeways aren't billing this themselves as a widescreen telly. Is there no picture on the box?
Ian
sound a bit like the dvd player they're offering with a built-in dolby digital decoder.
odd, then, that there's no speaker outputs...
only two phonos, a digital coax and a digital optical
hmmm....?!

It comes in a very large box and the picture is a 'artistic' picture - perhaps because you might realize otherwise that it wasn't a widescreen TV
It doesn't do exactly what it says on the box
It clearly states, as I said before, WIDESCREEN on every, every, every side.
And Safeways ARE billing this as a widescreen TV because on their stand-up price display it clearly says "Goodmans Widescreen TV" - short of opening up the box there and then on the supermarket floor, and pulling out the TV, there isn't any way of checking
I think I can be forgiven for taking them at their word ????????

My Dad's got one of these, and it does have a built in Dolby Digital decoder, that's the A5 model. You're defining the A3 model, which doesn't. Also it doesn't claim to have a built in amplifier, which would explain their being no speaker outputs, just an array of phono connections to go off to an amp.

If this is the case, then the particular branch has also been misled by the packaging - ensure that they are aware that their point of sale is wrong. Each store is capable of creating their own in-house signage, unfortunatley, and no offence to any mothers reading this, most of the staff that would do these signs are house wives, and haven't a clue.

I have pointed it out to them now, I wonder if they took any notice though
