360 controller battery section broken

One of my pads has broken, its the battery section, it falls apart into 3 sections you can piece them together and it works, will microsoft give me another battery compartment for free or can you buy them?

You can't buy them. Could try phoning MS but I doubt they will be very helpful.

Thought about going for a play and charge kit instead?

I've read of people blagging free replacement controllers from MS just by ringing them to report their current one's bust. It sounds pikey to me, but hey.

Yes just ring them up - say its broke and blag a new one thats what i did last year (or the year before?)

i have put sello tape round it for now and thats holding it together.
