Just got the EP30 delivered. I have a samsung 37" 720p LCD, so have picked the resoultion on the tosh menu as 720p. Will this setting automatically upscale DVDs correctly as well, or will I need to change this setting?
Cheers
Dan

PS, I have a netgear wireless router got as part of the sky BB package. I've plugged the cat 5 in the back of the player, and into the router, and kept the settings as default but no joy- any ideas?

Thanks!

DVDs will output whatever you set the player to. However if you're outputting HD to a display like the one you have it's generally better to select 1080i. Otherwise you're going through two processes of scaling, one by the player scaling to 720p output and then a second one by the display that upscales the picture to 768p. Downscaling 1080i to 768p is just one step.

I have to pick the 720p option, as 1080i makes my TV picture format zoom in and out at random.

Mind you, I prefer the smooth movement of Progressive over interlaced anyway.

Should be as simple as going into the Ethernet settings, make sure DHCP is ON, DNS is ON, and then hit Confirm, then if it works, hit OK.

Not sure if the Sky router needs to be configured to allow the player though.

I could never get the ethernet connection to work with my player, always said it couldnt find the server and I am not alone so I assumed it was something to do with Toshiba's servers and not my connection.

Just configuring the Ethernet connection should work as it's just requesting an IP address off your router.

Only time it should go off to Tosh is when doing the maintenance update. It's always worked fine for me, but there is potential for the server being unavailable at times.

If you stick in a Warner, Universal or Paramount disc with online features it should go off to the respective studio's company rather than Tosh, so worth a try. If you can't get anything to work, I'd say it's more likely your router or an ISP issue.
