Well I watched it with high hopes and tried so hard to laugh but couldnt :(

Maybe its me and it could well be but I didnt find it funny.

I also saw The Royal Tenebaums the other day and that is scoring in the 8's on IMDB and I didnt laugh once.

Mr Stanton put's it very firmly at the top of his list as best film of 2001.

It's not one for the 'Rat Race' fans but if you like your comedy's spiked with acid wit and brilliantly acted then i can't recomended it highly enough.

Haven't seen The Royal Tenebaums yet but that's high on my must see list. :p

Another vote for one of the best films of 2001. More soul than 1001 Lord of the Rings, more wit & character than a whole pattiserrie of American Pies.

File alongside Gregory's Girl as one of the best "teen comedies" of all time...

Just a pity the DVD hasn't got any of the hilarious promo pieces from www.ghostworld-themovie.com

Oi you cheeky git!

Just because people like me like Rat Race it doesn't mean that a film like Ghost World wouldn't be appealing!

In fact it's at the top of my current wanted list!!

Care to give me the cash to buy it ? :D:D

I enjoyed it but didn't think it was great. Haven't read the graphic novel, though flicking thru it is like flicking thru the story board. Thora Birch though - sexy.

It starts off well, but is ultimately disappointing. It loses the biting wit that it starts with and becomes morose. It's also about 20mins too long. I was genuinely disappointed, I was really looking forward to it :(

i don't imagine that would be too hard, seeing how the Lord of The Ring is a dark being devoid of any soul :p

I finally saw it yesterday and thought it was fantastic. It's not laugh out loud funny, but the humour is dark and I think the film does retain a good pace throughout. Steve Buscemi is outstanding and I foud it amusing comparing his obsession with collecting records to my collection of DVDs (very worrying when you consider Buscemi's character). There's a moment in the film where Enid moves one of the records slightly out of place on the shelf and Buscemi runs across to correct its position - I've been known to do that with my DVDs!! :D

I also enjoyed the scene where the guy goes into the video shop and asks for 8 1/2. After looking rather puzzled, the assistant suddenly grins and says that the film he is looking for is in the erotic drama section - "yes sir, 9 1/2 Weeks is in the erotic drama section"! :D

Seen one up for sale at The Cinema Store in Nottingham (it's in a movie complex).

It's behind the counter though, so it may have been the only one they had.
