My Samsung takes a while to boot up. Its really annoying especially when I only want to watch a DVD.
I was in a store the other day and there seemed to be a new Samsung model and it was similar to mine with regards to startup. Knowing my luck the other models were not plugged in so I couldnt test them.

I have a brand new Panasonic DVD recorder and that's how long it takes powering up while it checks out both drives. Waiting half a minute doesn't strike me as much of a hardship to be honest.
My Humax is the same, I just put the recorder on before the tv , no problem

Ok thanks guys.

On paper its not long. But when you just want to get a movie going, 30sec is a long time.
Same for me with my SONY, annoyed me like hell for the first few times, but used to it now.
Mind you I remember the days when it use to take 30-60 seconds for our TV to "warm up" & display a picture.
My Mrs always turns the power off to the TV & Sky HD box. 30 seconds is nothing to how long the Sky HD box takes to come on!
My Panny E85 takes quite a while to get going, but I thought the newer models booted up almost immediately
