Real shame about the high p&p:(
Just spent a while looking for something else to get to avoid it, but the site is not the best for looking.
Will try again later, but still might end up going fo it.

S&S was excellent...scared the crap out of me as a kid, especially the one where the kids' parents disappear.... Also the one with the railway station and the soldier whistling "pack up your troubles".... The finale was odd, mind....

It was excellent...when we were kids! I watched the first series a while back and it has aged very badly indeed. Budget must have been a fiver per episode and as for the acting :oh-hum:
I was around 20 and found it dull, pretentious, repetitious, and seemingly unending. Worse: given that it featured some of the sexiest people on the box it was incredibly cold and sexless. Creepy, tho', for sure.

Jo Lumley at that time with those BLUE BLUE eyes "cold and sexless"!?!?!?
I too was around twenty - I must beg to differ, IMO she was rocket fuel!

Me too! The one with they were trapped in that flat, and the baby turned into a swan.. gave me nightmares as a child. I remember being freeked out when the pulled out the lightswitch, and there were organs in the wall!
It was only years later that I discovered what the hell it was that I was watching... Tried watching a few episodes recently, and its still strange as hell. It feels like the whole production team were high....
Surreal stuff, and worth a laugh too
Anybody got there's yet?
Still waiting here.

Hmmm...any one used these Suppliers before. That seems very cheap as they have the recommended retail price incorrect (they have it listed as £34.99 - it should be £59.99)
Are they legitimate?
Yeah I have used them.
Things can sometimes take over a week to get to you.
They tend to use something like "home delivery network", as some of my stuff turns up @ 8pm, becuase the driver thinks there is more chance of people being in then.
Ill give them a ring tomorrow to see if there is an update about the S & S sets.
They used to be DD Home Entertainment. Their shipping was patchy then and they never sent dispatch e-mails. Sounds like nothing's changed.
Tempted to order but want to make sure they are shipping them out first!

Well, that linked page has gone. In fact, so has the whole website!

Working fine for me!
Well mine has just arrived and its not the Network set, or the Carlton... I only wanted the Network one to replace my Australian one due to the commentaries and extras so this is going right back.
Not impressed.

If its not the Network or Carlton one any idea what one it is?
This is the one I received:
Amazon UK (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=8&url=http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000SO5SC8/thedvdforums-21)
Fired an email off to them asking to send it back - lets see how good their CS is.

same here-don't know if i can be bothered with the hassle of sending it back though
Well I am, already have the good OZ set, so if it was the Network one I would have flogged that one... as it wasn't the Network one back it goes.
They give you a freepost address to send it back so really no trouble.

Drat. Don't know if they've sent mine yet - not yet charged to my credit card - so I've sent them a cancellation email.
A guy on another forum reported that he emailed a query before placing his order, and they assured him that they were supplying the Network SE!
It's the DDvideo version.
That's the one I got as well.
Sorry Simply H.E, but you've broken the trades description act by supplying a version different from the one advertised on your website!

is the DDvideo version particularly one to avoid?
is the DDvideo version particularly one to avoid?
I would not say "avoid", & the price you can get them for here is still a good one.
BUT if you think you paid for the NETWORK one then its a big blow:razz:

Just been on phone to CS - told me "Yes, just had something through about that - hold on while I read the email - Yes sir, send it back to "this" Freepost address and we will send out the Network edition!!
Superb.
Can anyone confirm if the website originally showed the picture of the Network box. They are listing their own (was DDHE now SimplyHE) mail order exclusive version at this price, and the extras list currently up confirms this.
They have a mail order exclusive contract with Granada which means it is their own produced disks so usually different extras to the Network.
Got the Saint Colour set last year when only £30 as this has the gorgeous book packaging but different extras to Network set.
However in this case the extras look sparse so would only buy if they will fulfill all orders as the Network one, or is it only if you complain and ask for a swap ? as they only now list their version the Network one is not there.

Can anyone confirm if the website originally showed the picture of the Network box. Yes it did. I copied their webpage on 12 January, when I placed my order.
Seems like I was too quick to cancel, judging from dvd_vicar's post. :(

It will be interesting to see if they get the Network version to send out to those who complain. Though the DDHE deal with Granada meant that they had rights to produce their own version for mail order sale only, in many cases in direct competition to the Network one. Presume they would have to buy in any stock from a 3rd party at a loss if they were going to fulfill these.
